My cat is only five years old and I found out yesterday she has cancer. The vet said because she is young it is a very aggressive form and she probably only has a few weeks left to live.

The house feels so empty (both my children are away at university).
I feel like I really want another cat but at the same time feel guilty about wanting to replace her and worried that another cat just wouldn't match up. She was incredibly sociable - friends used to say she behaved more like a dog.

She was beautiful. You did the kindest thing for her, she was lucky to have you.

When my Mum's cat William was PTS she said she would never have another cat. Two days later she asked me if I'd go to Battersea with her and two days after that we collected George. She wasn't replacing William, she lived on her own and she had a huge cat sized hole. The way I looked at it was she was giving another cat the chance she'd given William.

Be kind to yourself, you'll know when the time is right.

I am so sorry Roseau, you will always remember her. She had lots of love from you.
Take care and if you want another cat the time is right for you, and that is all that matters.
She will never be replaced, you just have a lot of love to give another DCat.Flowers
