When to let cats out

I realise I can google this but I’d rather be able to have an actual conversation if that’s ok.

My cats are 7 months old now and was wondering when to let them out? Do they need to be spayed first?

Any tips would be greatly appreciated! Every time I even let them in the garden I have a major panic thinking they might run away.

Hi there :-) we have 2 cats, boys from the same litter. Neutered at 4 months old and seriously weren't bothered. Kittens are independent and curious enough that they probably won't be too bothered about separating for a short while, plus they'll be pretty groggy afterwards!

We let ours out when they were about 6 months old. It's always scary when you first let them out. There is the chance they could get hurt or lost- but in my experience they are pretty darn clever and have a good sense of direction! Try not to worry too much. I comfort myself with the thought that they love outdoors so much that they themselves would probably take the risk of going outside if given the option! xx

Mine went out at 6 months but they were neutered at 4 months (male-female sibling pair).
