Cat with cone of shame under house arrest !

In February this year , we became the adopted slaves of a cat that turned up in our barn one night in the snow , having been abandoned because their owner buggered off to Spain . We took him to Cats Protection , got his chip scanned ( it was empty ) put his details and picture on local Facebook sites , and put notes out in our village , just in case it wasn’t theirs ( although we’ve since had it confirmed it was theirs ) and 8 months later , he’s still here . He is primarily an outside cat . Thinks he’s a lion really , goes out hunting across our fields , lives 90 percent of his life outside , although he’s a little partial to falling asleep on my kitchen table .

Anyway . He’s come in with a tail injury , so we pop him up to the vets , where on closer exam , he’s been badly bitten and there’s actually a nasty hole in it , so they put him under sedation to clip it out and clean it , gave him some antibtiotics and have sent him home wearing the cone of shame , and instructions he is not to leave the house for two weeks . He is going absolutely bloody spare . We’ve bought him toys to play with , and at the moment I’m off for a week so he’s not alone but he HATES that bloody cone with a vengeance . Is there anything else we can do to cheer him up ? The greyhounds are looking at him in amazement , which is pissing him off even more . Poor love .

A sock filled with catnip? Get him spaced out Grin

Poor guy. Picture please though. So we can all feel sad for him/snigger and call him a lampshade.

Ooh that’s an idea ? Where would I get some ( has visions of sneaking up to some dodgy looking feline on a street corner trying to score some catnip ! ) Gatden centre I suppose ?

Oh poor guy! You can get soft cones for them (probably off Amazon - you can get anything off Amazon) which might make him a bit more comfortable.

You could probably get him a catnip plant off there too Grin.

Could you try an inflatable collar. He might tolerate it better. Or a baby gro on back to front with the legs cut off.

fishfingersandketchup · 26/09/2018 20:35

Aw bless him. No advice but he's lovely (and looking very pissed offGrin) Hope he improves soon.

Fluffycloudland77 · 26/09/2018 20:41

Zylkene capsules? Clive knows how to throw a dirty look.

bookmum08 · 26/09/2018 21:24

Oh dear. That face. Poor Clive.

FogCutter · 26/09/2018 21:26

ambostraw · 26/09/2018 21:28

How would a baby grow help?

I would go for catnip Grin

plominoagain · 26/09/2018 21:32

Well we’ve bought him an inflatable collar and a cat tree so hopefully they might help . He’s so so unimpressed , love him !
