In February this year , we became the adopted slaves of a cat that turned up in our barn one night in the snow , having been abandoned because their owner buggered off to Spain . We took him to Cats Protection , got his chip scanned ( it was empty ) put his details and picture on local Facebook sites , and put notes out in our village , just in case it wasn’t theirs ( although we’ve since had it confirmed it was theirs ) and 8 months later , he’s still here . He is primarily an outside cat . Thinks he’s a lion really , goes out hunting across our fields , lives 90 percent of his life outside , although he’s a little partial to falling asleep on my kitchen table .
Anyway . He’s come in with a tail injury , so we pop him up to the vets , where on closer exam , he’s been badly bitten and there’s actually a nasty hole in it , so they put him under sedation to clip it out and clean it , gave him some antibtiotics and have sent him home wearing the cone of shame , and instructions he is not to leave the house for two weeks . He is going absolutely bloody spare . We’ve bought him toys to play with , and at the moment I’m off for a week so he’s not alone but he HATES that bloody cone with a vengeance . Is there anything else we can do to cheer him up ? The greyhounds are looking at him in amazement , which is pissing him off even more . Poor love .
