Oh gawd Iโ€™m thinking the worst. She is nearly 4 and this is the first time ever. Praying sheโ€™s safe and unharmed ๐Ÿ™

Yes put her bedding and litter tray (if you have one) outside so she can smell her way back if she's got herself lost.
Hope she comes home soon Thanks

Whatsthisbear · 15/09/2018 12:37

Any sign OP?

BlueEyedBengal · 15/09/2018 13:13

Don't panic yet sometimes cats go on an exploration or invite themselves into someone else's home and will return when they grow homesick. I wish your cat a safe return and hope it's sooner than later but just give a little time and maybe put her picture on Facebook and ask if anyone has seen her, that worked well in my street when a stray dog turn up, he was reunited within the hour with his worried owner.

Cailleach1 · 15/09/2018 18:58

I know you are probably somewhere between hope and trying not to think of the worst thing that could happen.

I have been in your shoes with knobs on. We adopted two 10 week old siblings. Shy of a year old, the girl cat went missing. I let them out at night for a few hours as I thought it was a safer time. One night, she never returned.

We put it on facebook, their microchip co. have an alert to put them as missing if they get scanned. Posters up and every house in the neighbourhood called to. Nothing. We had given up, really, and had a chill when we pondered on what could have happened.

10 weeks later and little miss came in the cat flap and started meowing at us.

Don't know where she was or what happened. She is back at home, though. I have no idea how she coped as she climbed all over me at feeding time. A second late with her food and she will expire.

Have my fingers crossed for you and your furry.

pilates · 15/09/2018 20:28

Thanks for your good wishes everyone but I canโ€™t stop crying. We have done everything. I have never felt such pain. My husband is in bits. We got her to ease the pain of losing his mum and itโ€™s brought it all back for him.

Please don't lose hope, there have been some amazing stories on here, someone's cat got stuck up a tree for several days and survived by licking the snow, someone else's turned up a pub months later.

I'm really sorry for you and DH that little one isn't back yet, sending hopeful thoughts

DannyWallace · 15/09/2018 21:30

Oh OP, I know the not knowing anything is just the worst feeling.
I know it doesn't help now but I know exactly how you're feeling.
Don't lose hope, and don't stop with asking neighbours, vets, posties, everyone! โค๏ธ

Blameanamechange · 15/09/2018 21:36

Hi OP I've had lots of cats and like others have said they do sometimes go missing but often just walk through the door and give a look as if to say "what? "! The positive thing is that it's not freezing cold out. One of mine went missing in the snow and finally turned up a few weeks later looking a bit thin but was ok. Hopefully yours will return soon.

Whatsthisbear · 15/09/2018 22:00

Please keep trying. My mums cat went missing for 3 weeks before someone called her saying they had seen the pic on FB. Renew the FB post every 3 or 4 days, not everyone goes on FB every day. Keep phoning the vet, keep walking the streets. I hope she finds her way back soon

AlevelConfusion · 15/09/2018 23:18

Don't give up. Our cat went missing for 4 months, a man brought her back, she'd been living with him and he hadn't seen the posters we'd put up or taken her to vets to check for a microchipHmmHe eventually saw a poster when he went to the train station.
Hoping you have some good news soon Thanks

pilates · 16/09/2018 06:21

Another day without her. Iโ€™m having trouble sleeping and when I do go to sleep I wake up a couple of hours later. Mornings and evenings are the worst.

SadWe've been in this position OP and it is really hard. I also struggled to sleep and kept waking. The not knowing is very difficult. It sounds like you are doing everything you can on a practical level. One of our cats went missing for nearly two weeks- in her case, she was trapped in a neighbours outbuilding when they went on holiday. I definitely recommend asking around if anyone in the vicinity has gone away etc. Has anyone local to you got a motor home or caravan parked up outside? It's the time of year when people clean them and lock them up for longer periods- perhaps after having a summer holiday in it? Anything is worth checking. X

LanguidLobster · 16/09/2018 12:49

Most people on here know how you feel.

I had my little cat for ten years which I feel extremely lucky for to have known the beautiful little beast. She only gave me gyp twice, once she got locked in a shed (snuck in) and I realised something was wrong and went out and almost scented the air for her. If I'd had whiskers they would have been quivering, I knew something was wrong. Then I heard her screaming in the shed:)

Second time she'd just snuck into a neighbour's house through the window and I flouted all property laws and clamboured in through the windows to dig her out.

I think she died through Bob Martins which is a whole other story and makes me furious, but I was trying to say people understand how you feel, it's horrible when you don't know where they are.

Actually ever since my one was pts I've had people say 'I know this is a funny thing to say about a cat...but she was very intelligent, wasn't she?'

Yes she was and I was so pleased to have known and loved her.

Best paws thoughts for yours

Papergirl1968 · 16/09/2018 15:12

Go out when itโ€™s quiet like at night or at dawn and call her.
Knock on doors or out leaflets through asking people to check sheds and garages. Iโ€™d be shameless about peering through windows of motor homes and caravans, and into houses where it looked like they were empty or occupants on holiday.
Ask everyone you meet. Ask the postman, the newspaper delivery person, the corner shop. Hand out leaflets in the school playground (Iโ€™d go into the playground even if I hadnโ€™t got kids or at least accost them as they go in or out). Check any fields, wasteland or woodland nearby. Check if anyone was having any work done nearby, or had any deliveries, in case she got into a van.
Keeping everything crossed for you.

Papergirl1968 · 16/09/2018 15:13

Accost parents in the school playground, I mean. Not the kids!

Blameanamechange · 16/09/2018 15:17

This sounds awful OP but the local council where I live put any dead cats they find in the freezer with a description if they find one on the road after an accident. I rang ours when ours went missing and was relieved when there wasn't one that matched the description. Sorry but at least you'd know. There's often a person in the area who feeds cats as they think they're being kind.( a kind if cat pied piper)Ask around to seeif you have one in your area.

BlueEyedBengal · 16/09/2018 23:08

Have you done Facebook yet ?

Blameanamechange · 17/09/2018 06:53

Any news OP?

pilates · 17/09/2018 16:53

Nothing. Yep, done facebook. Not even a sighting of her Sad

I really feel for you. My cat has been missing since Saturday ๐Ÿ˜ข. I'm feel like I'm on an emotional rollercoaster, one minute positive then thinking the worst.

I will be thinking of your lovely cat and really do hope for positive news soon x

Wolfiefan · 17/09/2018 23:11

When I was a child we had a cat go missing for a couple of weeks. Possibly shut in a garage?
One of mine got shut in empty house next door (any neighbours on holiday?) and both of my cats have been shut in garages. If they donโ€™t come in at night I have been known to stand outside garages calling. If theyโ€™re inside they answer.
Good luck OP.

Dodie66 · 17/09/2018 23:25

My neighbours cat went missing for 10 days then just turned up.hooing yours will be home soon

Threewheeler1 · 18/09/2018 08:32

I feel for you OP.
One of our cats, Boba, went missing for 2 weeks. His brother Vader didn't seem to notice.
Boba's a real roly-poly pudding - barely leaves his cat bed, only to drag himself with his two front paws to the food bowl and back to his bed. I'd convinced myself he was gone for good and then I spotted him sashaying down the garden, nonchalant and fat as anything and heading for the cat flap. Cheeky bugger didn't even break into a light trot when he saw me calling him in am-dram fashion with open arms on the back step.
Rather suspiciously, he smelt of wood smoke and roast dinner...
He does it regularly now and each time comes back without his collar so I suspect he's doing a 'Six Dinner Sid' in the next village.
We gave both the cats middle names after that. 'Don't Know' for his not very bright brother (slightly crossed eyes, overbite and trips over his own feet) and 'Don't Care' for the heartless con artist.
Keep up the hope pilates, you never know what they're up to. She may well return when you least expect it x

pilates · 18/09/2018 18:48

I know Iโ€™m trying to stay positive but in my heart I know Iโ€™m not going to see her again. It feels like a bereavement, one minute Iโ€™m upset and one minute Iโ€™m angry. Sending you hope sunshine ๐Ÿ’•
