Cats Protection, how long between homecheck and new kitties?

Assuming they have suitable ones, which I've been told our branch have. I am super excited, home check on Saturday, which she's pretty much said we've already passed as she knows our road and the houses well. Any chance of kitties by Sunday evening? Should I go cat shopping? Did I say I'm excited?? Grin

Just jumping on your thread to say your boy looks like a Simon to me.

Lovely babies. Have you met them yet OP?

Report
Rockbird · 14/09/2018 11:21

No, not yet Sad She's supposed to be getting back to me today about a time. Can't help thinking the cats will be retired before I get them! It's been nearly 3 weeks since I first contacted them...

We got new babies on Saturday they are mental but amazing. Our 16yo tabby girl hates them so far but we are preserving with gentle introductions. Anyone have tips?

I hope you hear something soon and, at the very least, get a date for their arrival. They look gorgeous.

We’re also waiting to hear about kittens from Celia Hammond. Had a home visit at the weekend, which was positive, and were told that the main office would be in touch shortly to discuss details. Not heard a peep yet - have sent the home visitor a text and the main office an email, but no response.... I’d like to pretend it was the DC who are nagging me to chase but, although they’re excited, it’s really me who is desperate to hear further! I’ll probably give them a call later, but irrationally worried about seeming pushy and them changing their mind. I’m not usually this twitchy....

I am getting a little cheesed off, I have to admit. I know these people are all busy, of course they are. But.... we're here and waiting, have been for weeks and still nothing. I don't want to keep pestering them.

So we're going to see them tomorrow evening after I pestered a bit more. And then what can I expect? It feels like I got pregnant and gave birth in less time!

@Filiboom which branch? Canning Town or Lewisham? If it's Canning Town please pm me and I'll chase it up.

OP - well if you've already had your home check and you're going to see them tomorrow evening I would imagine you can take the home then and there.

Rockbird · 15/09/2018 18:58

Alas no, it's a Surrey branch. Thanks though.

I'd better get some carriers then! That's the only thing I haven't got now. I imagined a load of paperwork and another weeks wait.

Thanks very much thecatneuterer! It’s Lewisham but I have now heard from them and will discuss further next week. I’m probably a bit impatient!

OP - hope yours are safely home very soon!

Asked when we would be able to take them and she said as soon as we want but they need vaccinations first. What does that mean??

Means they need a quick vet visit before they will let them go. All cats should be vaccinated against certain illnesses the same way children should be, and they should be topped up annually - mine have MoT and jabs together once a year.

Ah ok. Would have been good if I could have got them tomorrow as I'm off work. Another night of looking wistfully at the untouched cat tree Grin

CP normally vaccinate. Blood test. Flea. Worm. And neuter...

If they arent neutered, please do both tomorrow. A kitten can get pregnant at 4 months old, they might not do the boy if his poorly / under weight but get the girl done and keep them both indoors untill the boy gets done

Report
Rockbird · 16/09/2018 16:36

The boy has been done very recently. Not sure about the girl as she's only 4 months I think but yes will be doing her ASAP if not. They were both poorly but absolutely fine now.
