Cat trying to get out of window!

Gertie is a one year old indoor cat we rehomed from Cats Protection after she had a horrid start in life. ATM she keeps throwing herself at the Flatcat screen trying to get out. Worried that the Velcro might give and she will fall out of the window (long drop down) Anyone else had this problem? Other than keeping window closed in this heat any idea wise MNs?

My two have never got through them yet. I dont have the windows opem fully. I think they send you extra tape to reinforce them? Ive had mine for two years without a problem.

Has she been neutered?

I have got more tape - good idea, will try and reinforce.

Yes she has been neutured.

I have window restrictors, they’re cheap from wickes (about £12) and although you can’t have the windows wide open with them it’s much better than just the standard ventilation position.

Thanks Fuschia will check window restrictors.

Yes mine jumps out all the time, its a bungalow.
He goes out a lot on his harness now which has calmed him down as hes getting a breath of fresh air and plenty of exercise.
He has a mynwood cat harness and extender lead. i would recommend the harnesses.

Mine used to jump out the bedroom window from a 2 storey house and was never hurt Hmm

Flamingo there have been reports from the RSPCA of recent bad falls cats have had falling out of windows. Yours hopefully had nine lives! Thanks for the idea of a harness.
