Awaiting blood results for kidney function. As she's still loosing weight and isn't her usual self. Should get them later today. If her kidneys are failing then I think the kindest thing will be to PTS. In view of her heart I don't want to 'try and manage it' it wouldn't be fair. For the last couple of days she's still interested in things but is not my bossy little diva cat and isn't eating much.

How lovely! I'm sure your instincts are right with regard to Snorg, and learning to love a new cat will be a healing experience, while taking nothing away from the love you will always have for Fatty.

Toddlerteaplease · 13/08/2018 17:53

@cheesefield her name is Chedder. I'm over my photo limit for today but her picture is on my other thread.

I'm sorry about Fatty but you gave her such a wonderful life and you always put her first, you were so lucky to have each other and its really lovely to see you bringing another cat into your life. You're an exceptional cat slave with a lot of love to give.

Weedsnseeds1 · 13/08/2018 21:28

Just seen this, so sorry to hear that poor Fatty didn't make it.
It's easy to say you did the right thing, but it still feels terrible doesn't it?
Thinking of you and Snorg.

Toddlerteaplease · 13/08/2018 21:46

Yes. I know it was the right thing to do and she felt secure and loved right till the end but the house feels sad and empty without her. I hope when tomorrow is over I can stop doing the 'this time last week she was doing.. thing. It does feel a bit soon for a new cat. But I think this one is right. I trusted my instinct for Fatty and Snorg so hopefully it will be the same again. Obviously Snorg's welfare must come first though.

Thank you @PinkSparklyPussyCat for Snorg's card. She sends her love to Harry and hopes he prefers her to Chedder!

I don't know your name and I thought the Royal Mail would think I was on something if I addressed it to Snorg and Toddlerteaplease!

Harry says he's sure Cheddar is a lovely cat and he's looking forward to getting to know her but Snorg will always be his number one.

Toddlerteaplease · 15/08/2018 12:46

Bonkers, the pair of us. My name is Vicky.

I think DH thinks we're mad, especially when I refer to Harry's girlfriends. Then again he doesn't bat an eyelid when the parrot over the road sends Harry Christmas cards!

Had a phone call to say that Fatty's ashes are ready to collect. Will have to take Chedder in to get her chip checked. So it will make it a bit easier. Miss my gorgeous girl terribly.

Hopefully taking Chedder in will make it less sad for you. Are you still planning to have some of the ashes put into a glass pig?

Toddlerteaplease · 15/08/2018 21:32

Yes. And I will scatter the rest of her ashes in my best friends beautiful garden. And maybe my parents garden too. As both houses won't be sold for a long time. Wish she was still here. Loved her so much.

PinkSparkly , when I was a kid we regularly got postcards and letters addressed to "Mr. X the dentist, opposite ABC Pub, village name, county name" posted in various countries, there seemed to be no problem delivering them.
Snorg has experience of sharing space with a despised relative, she'll probably cope fine with a loathed non-relational!
I have followed the toddler sisters since I joined Mumsnet and have been so upset by Fatty's trials and tribulations. After her jaw and her heart, it's so sad that a new condition emerged. How old was she?

Toddlerteaplease · 15/08/2018 23:11

She was 7/8. She had bloods done in may to rule out a thyroid issue as she was loosing weight. Her kidneys were at the top end of normal so I didn't really worry about it. I think having her diuretics doubled and a new one added probably just tipped them over the edge. She wasn't really unwell at all. Just not quite right and didn't look happy at times. She lost a limo in three weeks.

Oh, poor girl, she was a youngster reallySad
It's so sad that cats are going the way of dogs in overbreeding and the associated health issues, but happy for Snorg that she had time with you.
I probably left old girl too late, I think, but she went from 20 and acceptably doddery, to skin and bone wreck in the blink of an eye.She was always a tiny, delicate looking little runt, but proved almost immortal.
Current boy is built like a tank, but he's one of 60 inbred, hoarded cats, so, while I hope he might carry on in his current robust fashion, I always worry about some genetic defect emerging.

Weedsnseeds1 · 16/08/2018 00:00

Happy for Fatty, Snorg obviously alive and well, sorry Blush

Toddlerteaplease · 16/08/2018 02:46

Yes she had a lovely life with me. Shame it was so short.

Collected her ashes from the vet. And her paw prints. Feels good to have her back. Will scatter her next week when I go to my friends.
