Missing cat - escaped from Cattery in Blackpool [Edited by MNHQ]

My cat is missing in South Shore Blackpool. He escaped from a Cattery on Wednesday night. We have come back from holiday to find him but no sign. Done leaflets, contacting local sanctuaries and vets, social media etc and the cattery is helping search. Please can I ask anyone in the area to look out for him I don’t think he would possibly find his own way home he’s not a wanderer. So upset and worried for him. He’s a small black cat with a very tiny patch of white on his chest. He was wearing a blue patterned collar and is microchipped. It seems he will have jumped from some height to get out so may be injured. Hope some of you are local and can help.

Bumping this for you. Might be worth asking MNHQ to put ‘Blackpool’ in thread title.

I hope you find him soon. how did he get out?

DB's cat escaped from the cattery (through the roof) but was found after a couple of days.

Bumping x

ComeBackCat · 27/07/2018 18:25

Thanks I’ll do that AwkwardSquad.
SparklingBrook was he found near the Cattery or near home? They think he must have squeezed under the mesh over the window and jumped from the first floor.

Near the cattery Come. They rang DB who was abroad at the time. Sad

Have you got a town FB Spotted page? There has been a lot of success locally using that for lost cats.

Papergirl1968 · 27/07/2018 18:48

How worrying. Have you tried walking around quietly calling late at night when there’s not many people about? Asking the hotels to keep a look out - a hungry cat might hang around by the bins? Trying places like the Pleasure Beach and the sandcastle water park in case their staff have seen anything? Sorry, not sure how far those places are from the cattery.
Please update with any news.

I remember a similar thread this time last year. Hope he turns up soon.

ComeBackCat · 27/07/2018 22:37

Yes been out looking the past couple of hours. Someone on Facebook had a possible sighting and three people round there said they think they’ve seen him. I couldn’t find him and it’s further than I expected and the opposite way than home but fingers crossed!

Crossed for you.

I’ve seen cats listed on the doglost site before if you’ve not done that , they have a lot of volunteers who might be able to assist you . Hope you find him soon .

Ask them to put his cat litter outside as the he might recognise the scent. Cats don't tend to go far if in a unknown area. We once lost our cat at the vets 20miles from home. We found him a week later. He was still hanging around near the vets. Contact a local cat rescue and ask them to help. If you get a sighting set a cat trap at night and stay there to keep watch. We trapped our cat on the 7th night. It was a long week and I slept in the car.

He's a wee beauty! Hope you find him.

Justin has come home. Don’t know how he’s done it but he just turned up. So pleased. Thanks all for the advice.

How completely wonderful!
He found his way back to your house? What a clever boy! How far did he have to go?

There is no more joyful sound than a lost cat coming through a cat flap or meowing at a door.

OldSpeclkledHen · 28/07/2018 06:24

Brilliant! X
