Cats losing weight in the hot weather

Has anyone else’s cat lost weight in this weather? My two have gone really skinny 🙁 Should I be worried and any ideas how to try and keep their weight up? Both are eating dry food and drinking water but have lost all interest in wet food.

My cat has been the same recently. There's some great advice on the RSPCA and blue cross websites about keeping cats cool in hot weather. Putting ice cubes in the water bowl seems to help. I hope your kitty is okay.

Mine always looses weight in the summer. He just wants to be out hunting.
He then puts it all back on in October when he moves back in and barely moves from his spot at the top of the stairs.
Is yours an outdoor cat?

Yes they’re both outdoors cats. Boy cat is much beefier than girl car but they’ve both gone really scrawny!! Plus they seem to disappear from dawn til dusk. I’ve put down extra food and as I say they’re eating the dry food which is good quality and full of vitamins etc so hopefully it’s just the heatwave that’s causing it. Why can’t it have the same effect on me?!!!

Yes. They eat much less in the summer. Fatty weighed 2.9kg in admission to the cattery and 2.4 the day I took her home. I suspect she barely ate anything while she was there. Nothing wrong with her appetite now though!

Bet boo has gone all skinny I think
I'm not sure though, she's not the biggest of cats

But have noticed not a lot of her tortie colours are very visible
More an under coat of fluff

Think she's had a mass all over molt cause it's so hot

She's out all day hunting comes in eats disappears again for hours

She's due boosters soon, so will get her weighed and MOT'd then
