My cat died yesterday , and lost my best friend

My little cat ruby died suddenly yesterday and I'm devastated. I'm a guy living on his own and old ruby was a real companion just returned from a weeks holiday , she was happy I'd returned , lots of petting , had some food , and half hour later I found her lying stretched out in the sun dead on the lawn , with a trickle of blood from her mouth ,she was 18 years old , and I know she had a good innings, but still can't believe she is no longer with me , she'd been through some tough times with me , just wish I'd cuddled her more that morning. Little Ruby's gone forever.

So sorry Nigel. I also lost my 18 years old cat, last week. I try to remember that it means some 84 human years, very nice age...

I’m so sorry for your loss. They truly are a member of the family.

I had 2 losses last year, my 18 year old cat and also my 4 year old cat from heart disease.

I feel your pain, be kind to yourself.

Oh nigel, poor you, its devastating when our dear little friends die, it was obviously very quick, you both had a lovely life together and you loved her very much, it would be lovely to see a picture of Ruby when you feel ready. She will always be in your heart,

Maybe she waited until you got home before she went to find a safe place to pass away... you loved her and she will have known that, don't be hard on yourself

I'm so sorry. Have you got a spot to put her to rest? Anyone whose shoulder you can cry on for a bit today?

It's so painful when they go and they really are lovely little furry friends. You had each other and loved each other for a long time.

You obviously loved Ruby and cared for her well. Take some time to grieve the loss of your wee pal, but maybe in a while you will be able to offer a happy home to another little cat in need - there are always plenty at Cats Protection needing new homes and a loving servant!
I lost my 21 year old cat, and couldn’t face getting another for nearly a year. But then I adopted a feisty little 6 year old, and she is now my dear companion, who sits purring on the end of my bed.

I am so sorry Nigel. We lost our 23 year old kitty earlier this year. I knew it was coming but it was so heartbreaking. I'm tearing up thinking about her, and your loss.
But Ruby's memory is there forever. She will always be in your heart, and mind.

That's very sad Nigelflyer. Do you know what caused it? It's lovely that she was a good pet friend to you. They have no clue how much we love them

I am so sorry for your loss. I also lost my 18 year old girl a couple of years ago and it was heartbreaking. Someone posted something that stuck with me - what a lucky cat to have had so much love for so many years.
