Please help me - four vet appointments and I still don't know what's wrong with my cat

Hello everyone,

I have a seven year old big fluffy moggy. He has always been a physically healthy cat and has a very docile and shy temperament.

Around a month ago, I found some spots of blood on the wall in two different places. Because of the places they were at, I know it is this particular cat and not one of the others. He is the only one who sleeps and goes to those particular places. When I found this it was in th evening already and our usual vet was closed, therefore we took him to a veterinary hospital. There they checked his breathing and oxygen levels which were fine, examined his threat which was fine and explained that it is difficult to examine the nose but there wasn't a blockage in the nose from his breathing pattern. They put a little mirror in front of his nose and the evaporation pattern was showing no obstructions in the nose. They gave him an injectable anti-inflammatory. Around four days went by and this time I found little drops of blood on the floor. We took him again to the vet and the vet said the blood may be from a urinary infection. This seemed strange to me as the blood was not mixed with urine, it was just drops of blood. The vet checked him for a urethra blockage which he did not have and we monitored him to make sure he was weeing. He was prescribed and given a relaxant, another thing to make him phsyically need to wee and an anti-inflammatory. For a few days everything seemed to be improving but then we had blood drops again. We took him to the vet and she gave us special cat litter to take samples. His tests came back with traces of a previous inflammation but all within normal levels. This was around 10 days ago and today for my desperation there were blood drops again in the kitchen. He also sounds like he has a bit of a cold. He always has been a snuffly cat but not like this.
Apart from these things he seems well in himself, has a very good appetite and plays with the other cat etc. No temperature.
I will take him to the vet again tomorrow or Saturday but was wondering if someone has any advice or experience. We have moved to where we are around 9 months ago, might he be allergic to the pollen here? I have removed all suspicious plants from the garden.
Apologies for the long post.

No experience but very odd.
Have you told the vets about moving recently(ish)? Have they done a full blood profile to check everything is as should be expected?

That's as strange one. What size are the drops of blood? I can't imagine that the vets have missed anything, but could it be from fleas? Sorry to ask that. Any problems with his mouth?

Thank you both for your answers.
I decided to take him to the hospital again and am just back.
This time it was possible to really trace back the blood drops to a nose/ throat/ mouth issue and the bladder infection has been completely ruled out. They have reassured us that even though it is uncomfortable it is not life threatening. They are going to call hs tomorrow and the options are to sedate him and examine the throat, soft palate etc or to referr him to a vet surgery which has the equipment to check inside the nose. They also gave him an anti-inflammatory to sooth things down a bit.
Blood tests were not discussed yet, so I will ask about that tomorrow.

Want2be, the blood drops are about the size of a 20p coin and they usually have tiny drops around the main drop, in a “spray” pattern if you see what I mean.

Glad you're finally getting somewhere. Hope he has a settled night. You must be shattered. Sleep well and hopefully tomorrow will be a better day for you bothFlowers
