Cat makes the house smell of civet!!

I have a nearly one year old female cat (spayed). I've had a lot of cats in the past and none have made the house smell. This cat makes the house smell of civet cat, is the only way to put it. She is also incredibly vocal and unsettled. I have never had a cat like this. Is she spraying? What can I do? She yowls all morning, goes in an out in and out, is never happy. Eventually she will settle down as the day goes on but she seems really highly strung. I don't think she's unhappy, just really neurotic. Noises make her jump, she doesn't like being left alone.

She used to be incredibly affectionate but she won't sit still for long until she is completely shattered with pacing around, going in and out etc. She is outside a lot when the weather is good.
I really don't like the smell or all this yowling which means we are jumping in and out of bed letting her in and out in the morning, opening doors constantly. it's really wearing. I have never experienced this with other cats. Our last cat (male) was very placid and put up with anything really.

I would take her for a check up, especially if this is not her usual behaviour.

Could it be her thyroid? Yowling, unsettled behaviour sounds like it might be, although she seems young. You are definitely sure she has been spayed?

Vet, asap, definitely.

Oh dear. i took her to be spayed in February. She's always been a bit weird to be honest, more hyper than a normal cat. I wonder if she's unsettled as we are quite stressed at the moment. She is a calico I think, tabby with ginger markings, and apparently they are a bit demanding and neurotic. It just seems to have got worse lately. She's always been very demanding of us and hates being left alone. She used to get upset when we went out , and still does to some extent. To be honest she's much more like a dog.
