How to get of fleas in house?

Just realised that my kitten somehow has fleas. Now I need to find a way to get rid of it around the house. I've found rentokil but not sure if it's safe around pets. Has anyone used it before or know an effective alternative?

What are you going to do about the fleas on the kitten? Depending on the age of the kitten the only safe thing is Frontline spray, but you need a vet for that.

For the house use Indorex or Acclaim spray. Follow the instructions on the can and you and the kitten will be fine.

For the kitten, I’m thinking of getting Advantage spot on treatment - the one for

You can't use that on small kittens. How old is the kitten?

10 weeks now

I would check with a vet just because I know certain treatments can be risky/toxic - a vet will know for sure. I also believe that certain flea populations can adapt to the chemicals. A vet will probably know which work and which do not.

You need to speak to your vet about a spray treatment suitable for kittens.

^ I mean, instead of the spot on you are looking at, not for the house, sorry.

indorex spray for soft furnishings is animal safe. And beaphar household fleapowder for carpets/rugs (also pet safe).

YY to checking with vet about what is safe on a kitten. Plus combing through their fur and dropping the fleas into water to get rid of the worst of it. (throw the water outside when you're done - it won;t kill the fleas by itself -you'll just end up with fleas in the sink.)

I can't get through to the vet until Monday so is it alright if I can just wash, spray, hoover and flea comb her until I can get a good de-flea treatment?

As long as you are washing, spraying and hoovering the house, not the cat, then yes. You can use Advantage spot on (which is a good one) as long as the kitten weighs over 1kg. At 10 weeks some will weigh that much, but a lot won't. So if you have some accurate scales you can weigh her. Failing that wait to see a vet.
