My poor boy was locked in a car for 2 hours

Just need reassurance- DH and I left at 18.30 to go to in laws for dinner, as we left, neighbours were sitting out having a little drink near the parking as they don't have a garden. Their car boot was open as we left. Got home at 20.30 and DH noticed that our poor boy was sitting in their parcel shelf meowing at us. He seemed content when he saw me and was rolling over/ playing piano. DH knocked on neighbours door who had obviously not noticed that my idiot cat had jumped in, unlocked, didn't notice a rush of hot air or anything, cat out. He was panting a few times but has come in, had some dinner (he's a grazer) and a little drink then gone for a lie down on our Lino floor and is currently staring out the (slightly open so nice and cool) window. Tongue is pink but not red (can't look at his gums because he's a beast and don't want me opening his mouth to look) and no drooling, he's not lethargic and hasn't been sick. He'll be ok won't he? Keep thinking what if it had been during the peak heat earlier 😢😢😢

Sure he's fine, just keep him cool with plenty of water and keep an eye on him. Any worrying symptoms take him to the vets.

I totally feel for you, girl cat (who normally stays in the garden) disappeared for 12 hours earlier and we were so worried
