Anyone else's cat not enjoying the heat?

Luco is pacing restlessly Sad He's an indoor cat and I've got the windows open but it's still boiling..

Mine hate it. But my house is cool so they are ok at the minute. They both go lethargic and don't eat much. I was really worried last year, until it cooled down and they immediately perked up. I'm wondering if they should have a 'teddy bear' cut to cool them down as they are long haired and black.
Here is fatty wanting me to make it stop.

I've never seen such a pissed off cat Grin

I live in a top floor flat so I get all the heat rising up to me...

We used to pull the curtains shut and put a fan on, fatty does not look happySad

Allergictoironing · 06/05/2018 14:51

I dunno, Fatty looks like a Persian in that pic. Except most look even grumpier.

What's a "teddy bear cut"?

mimibunz · 06/05/2018 14:54

The Bunz loves the heat. For now.

Appearances are deceptive. She's never grumpy. I believe a ready bear cut is where their hair is cut short but not shaved. I think it's what they had when I first got them.

Dancingfairydreams · 06/05/2018 19:34

Yep! Mime has been pacing all day. Seems to find the kitchen tiles cool but doesn't lay there for long. The only time she's settled today is when I laid on the sofa with a fan nearby & she slept on me for over an hour.

Forgot the pic

mimibunz · 06/05/2018 19:36

Aw she’s lovely!

MiniLeopardInTheHouse · 06/05/2018 22:12

MiniLeopard is loving the heat- the hotter the better with him.

UtterlyUnimaginativeUsername · 06/05/2018 22:19

Mine are loving it. They both have their favourite places to stretch out and absorb as much sunshine and heat as possible. They sit blinking adoringly up at the sun and smiling to themselves.

Weedsnseeds1 · 07/05/2018 09:46

Mine loves it. I put my hand on him yesterday and he felt as if he'd reached ignition point, but he wasn't moving to a shady patch!
He soaks the heat up as he's black, and also gets faded to a chocolate brown in too much sun.

EachandEveryone · 07/05/2018 15:04

Funnily its the longhaired one that i cant get in. She just loves the sun. Daphne still has her leg in a splint she broke out of the cat flap this morning but really scared herself. I had visions of me chasing her down the street with her cone of shame on and three working legs. Shes slep all afternoon in my room with the blinds down. I feel like joining her!

YearOfYouRemember · 07/05/2018 15:06

Mine seem okay. Both in, one on my bed and the other on ds2's bed. My dog, nah, not happy.

Papergirl1968 · 07/05/2018 18:48

Dcat has been miserable today. He has slept a lot of the day in a shady room but doesn’t seem to want to eat which is most unlike him. Hopefully he will eat as it gets cooler this evening.

Oldraver · 08/05/2018 10:15

In the space of half an hour Ernie went from lying on his back in the sun, sun bathing, finding a shaded spot, then giving up and coming indoors

Papergirl1968 · 08/05/2018 10:24

Dcat stayed out till after midnight and then polished off two meals plus he just ate his breakfast so concluding it was the heat getting to him yesterday as normally nothing puts him off his food!

MiniLeopardInTheHouse · 08/05/2018 16:28

MiniLeopard was hoping to spontaneously combust sometime soon. Still eating like a horse. Like an overheated fireside dog, he will sometimes drag himself away from the sun and collapse briefly in a cooler spot, only to return to the furnace a few minutes later. The sun has just gone in here and it's possibly looking like rain, so he is now looking somewhat downcast.

Sunshine49 · 08/05/2018 16:36

Funnily enough my two seem to love it! They've been snoozing in the conservatory all day (which is boiling) despite the fact that the front of the house is pretty cool. One of them is semi-longhaired as well!
