Product recall - Sainsbury cat food

I had an email from Sainsbury last night. It was recalling all batches of their catfood pouches - and some puppy food - because of a " higher than specified levels of vitamin D that should not be consumed over long periods of time."
I returned two boxes to my local store who new nothing about the recall but refunded me. However, when I went to the cat food aisle to get something else I was amazed to see the exact products still on the shelves! I returned to customer services and informed them, I have also emailed Head Office for more information as my DCat has been eating this food for a number ofmonths (and loves it!!).
Hopefully I pasted the list below. There were no stated batch codes.

There's more -this was just for your information in case you are feeding Sainsbury pouches to your Dcats.

Yes and I recommended them to everyone else on here. The ones that look like Encore. It’s their new recipe and Branding.

EachandEveryone · 28/04/2018 13:57

It’s still forsale online

OnlyTheDepthVaries · 28/04/2018 14:23

They need to get hold of this properly..either it is recalled or not! Or they are content that the stock they hold is all ok in which case they need to tell us.

Oh no! My cat started being sick so had to change her food & Sainsbury's grain free has been the one that suits her Shock

Dammit, will go & check the stuff I have now - bulk bought a load because I'm miles from Sainsbury's!

EachandEveryone · 28/04/2018 20:33

It’s not official though yet

TheSecondOfHerName · 28/04/2018 20:51

When you say there's more, do you mean more products not in the list you posted?
We have been feeding our cat these (1 or 2 pouches a week)

Oh - mine only had one box though so should be ok.

Sainsbury's should do total recall if they hadn't done their research/testing properly.

Actually catfood can be a total minefield as some brands proudly proclaim that their catfood contains grains. Some promote their inclusion of vegetables (spinach is the one I remember) as a good thing. A poster on here said her vet recommended go-cat.

Aaargh! Don't worry Each, Sainsbury's said over long term. It's obviously a relatively new product and being marketed as the bees knees.

Mine likes crisps and cheese, they're contrary beasts.

Horsemad · 28/04/2018 21:26

It's on the Sainsbury's website but luckily the Item Code for the food mine's been having isn't on the list for the recall.

EachandEveryone · 28/04/2018 22:34

Is the Sainsbury’s delicious? Cos mine love it

OnlyTheDepthVaries · 29/04/2018 14:39

All the information I have was contained within an email and is copied in my first post..The fact that it was an email to me makes me think it is official! If Sainsbury's reply to my request for further information I'll post it here.

Thank you OP

Horsemad · 29/04/2018 17:00

Sainsbury's replied to an email I sent last night & said the item code I have on my cat's food was NOT being recalled, so I think it is just the ones on the list posted by the OP.

Sounds like the vitamin support has screwed up the pre-approval mixes to me.
It's bad that the store doesn't seem to know about it.

EachandEveryone · 30/04/2018 12:21

I’ve just been and the shelves still full of most of their food. The grain free in the green boxes still there and the purple ones not so much so that might be the one? Their rip off Encore still up there so I bought it. I didn’t look at the dry.
