Our Sweet Girl Left Us Today

Our beautiful, 12-year-old girl went to the vets this morning for dental work, reacted badly to the anaesthetic due to a heart murmur and slipped away. We are beyond devastated and are absolutely heartbroken.

Sweet Holly adopted us in the summer of 2006 when DH and I believed we would never be able to have children. As a result, she was incredibly babied and was the cuddliest, most loveable cat you ever saw. She made the move to Canada with us 8 years ago and has been a source of joy for me, DH, DD and DS. We are all in shock at her sudden passing and have spent much of the day alternating between sharing memories and sobbing at the loss.

I’m not sure why I am posting this, but I shared photos of Holly on MN shortly after we brought her home so I thought it only fitting that I share our loss with MN as well. Squeeze your fur babies a little tighter tonight - their time with us is precious, but all too fleeting. 🐈❤️

I miss my sweet girl. I miss her purr and the little chirp of happiness she made when you pet her for the first time in awhile. I miss the feel of her cool nose nuzzling my hand in the morning. I miss the rumble of her contented purr in bed at night. I miss the long, slow blink she would give us when we talked to her. I miss the way she would arch her back as we tickled her fur. I miss every damn thing about her and want her back! 😢

Oh Annie, she is beautiful. It sounds like she had a really happy life with people who loved her, but I can understand only too well the loss and emptiness. The price we pay for loving our pets They aren’t just items that you can replace. She was YOUR cat and she was special and unique. Thinking of you and also curlscatsandkids

She is beautiful, Annie. I lost 3 in quite rapid succession a few years ago, the first one very suddenly, so I do understand the shock. I'm very sorry for your loss. Thinking of you and your family across the miles.

I have just showed this to my dh and we both sat and cried as we lost our boy suddenly two months ago. I am so sorry, she was a beautiful cat. Your description of her is so vivid; the void is so deep after it happens. I remember just wanting to fast forward time to a place where we wouldn't feel so bad. Our only consolation, as will be yours, is that he was so deeply loved. Thinking of you..
