Which dry food is your cats favourite?

Asbo kitty only likes cheap kibble but is severely intolerant to maize.

I’ve bought a sample of Lilly’s kitchen chicken on the basis that the more ruinously expensive the more likely he is to eat it.

Applaws has been previously rejected.

Any more brands I should be aware of?.

Mine have Royal Canin Persian. It's what they've always had. They aren't bothered about food at all. And eat with no issues. They get a pouch as a treat a couple of times a week.

Fluffycloudland77 · 14/04/2018 07:24

I did look on zooplus but I thought I’d check what the other cats liked first. Mumsnet being just the kind of place for expensive cat food made by unicorns under a full moon.

The wild freedom sounds interesting.

each Never buy the big bags. It’s the death knell on any dry food.

Another vote for Arden Grange chicken

Raven88 · 14/04/2018 07:28

Purina Pro Plan Kitten is her favourite. I got a sample from the vet and she loved it.

Gatekeeper · 14/04/2018 07:30

Ours likes Sainburys own brand cereal free

EachandEveryone · 14/04/2018 08:00

Purizon fo good sample sizes for a couple of quid why don’t you try a few different ones?

WhatsGoingOnEh · 14/04/2018 11:54

Honestly? Whisk as dry chicken flavour, or GoCat tuna.

I've tried her with the naice stuff and she just looks up at me with a, "Seriously?" expression.

Fluffycloudland77 · 14/04/2018 11:57

It’s annoying isn’t it? He’d eat whiskas too. Tried him on amionda carney once, total disaster.

I’m emailing various suppliers as we speak.

Purizon does look good too.

The small ones last a week I think you can buy a set of three

Peachyking000 · 14/04/2018 18:00

Perfect fit - £4.50 for 700g in Tesco, sometimes they do 2 bags for £7. I’ve tried lots of other types including James Wellbeloved, Science Plan, also some cheaper ones - but Perfect Fit is the only one they like.

adaline · 14/04/2018 23:25

We go between Applaws, Lily's Kitchen and Wainrights depending what's on offer.

I don't know why people rave about Royal Canin - it's full of rubbish!

dementedpixie · 14/04/2018 23:26

I know! Royal canin has little meat and is full of wheat or maize or other crap

Ofthread · 15/04/2018 00:54

Mine loves meowing heads in the pink bag.

esk1mo · 15/04/2018 00:56

sainsburys hypoallergenic

or encore

esk1mo · 15/04/2018 00:59

sainsburys hypoallergenic is wheat free and has added nutrients/omegas/probiotics

& its only £3.50 for a bag that lasted us almost a month, but we supplement with Thrive complete wet food

Who’s raving about it?

OP asked what our cats prefer, & mine love RC Grin They have turned their noses up at some of the “better” brands recommended here.

They also have wet food, & they’re very healthy, so I shall continue buying RC until that ceases to please them & then I’ll think again.

Fluffycloudland77 · 15/04/2018 07:23

I forgot encore.

Encores really high in protein. I have a free sample of wild freedom coming my way.

Fluffycloudland77 · 15/04/2018 07:36

Morrisons are doing it for £3!

Probably not my local morrisons though. Will check later.

Encore is the same as Applaws

Madgeis60 · 15/04/2018 09:46

It’s a shame the supermarkets don’t do the great big bags like zooplus. It doesn’t work out cheap if you have more than one cat. Purizon do wild buffalo! It’s brilliabg value.

Fluffycloudland77 · 15/04/2018 11:56

Yeah but they go off things in big bags. Asbo ate applaws consistently until I bought the big bag.

Ok, yes it was a new recipe but I still blame the big bag size 😹

Morrisons had the encore so I’ve bought that to try when his little mouths healed up.

OP posts:
Madgeis60 · 15/04/2018 12:02

I find encore quite hard mind never took to it but they do like their wet which Sainsbury’s rip off exactly

WhatsGoingOnEh · 15/04/2018 17:14

Asbo ate applaws consistently until I bought the big bag.

🤣🤣🤣 Typical!

I'm sidestepping my cat's fussiness by buying two different brands of cat food and alternating them at each meal. She seems to prefer being kept on her paws.
