Please hand hold I'm devastated

I'm going to have to take my old girl to be put to sleep in the morning and my heart is broken. She has stomach cancer which has come about very suddenly and progressed very quickly - we only found the tumour on Monday. She's my best friend and she's been with me pre-marriage and 3 children and we've been together through so much. I'm absolutely devastated to lose her and so sad that she won't get to sit in the sun again in spring. I feel like I'm trapped in a nightmare.

My heart breaks for you. I lost my boy two weeks ago and my world is a whole lot dimmer. Hope you are ok.

I'm so sorry for this terrible sadness you have had to endure. She sounds like a lovely companion. You only hurt so much because you love so much.

Just saw this OP. I hope you're as ok as you could possibly be given the situation.

Sending I was in this situation a few weeks ago and it’s unbearably sad. Hope that you can take some comfort from the memories that you’ve shared together.

Thank you everyone for all the kindness you have shown me. I'm not really able to write very much because I'm feeling so sad and heartbroken. I found burying her horrific even though it was very peaceful and I was able to hold her and stroke her for a while beforehand. I think I'm still in a state of shock and denial. Thank you for all your messages, each and every one has touched me and helped me to feel less alone. The house feels so empty without her (despite 3 very noisy children!) and I'm missing her so much.

It's absolutely heartbreaking and I know exactly what you mean when you say she was your best friend. Look after yourself and take comfort from the fact that you did absolutely the right thing for her.

This post brought a tear to my eye... really hope you are ok. I dread they day my cats go through this. They have given me so much joy and they are family.
