Persian kitten: How to clean sticky/ crispy fur under eyes

Getting to grips cleans kitten's eyes every day but the fur under his eyes is all crispy and I can't get it clean with just water or saline. I've tried using cotton pads and cotton buds. I can only rub at them for so long before I worry I'm hurting him. When we got him, we has just finished because he was sneezing and eyes running so much. I don't know if his under eye fur is so crispy because of the eye cream or if this is just normal for Persians. Any help in getting rid of the current crispy under eyes and preventing it happening again would be appreciated.

I tried diamond eyes but didn't notice any difference between that and cooled boiled water. I also tried water wipes. But they would scarper the minute I got the pack out. Do just pick it off now.

He is so gorgeous! What a lovely colour. Is he good at cleaning himself? How old is he- mine has got better with age in terms of less watery eyes (and he's only 2)

Also get a piggy back and get people to put £1 every time they say...... it's to do with the shape of their face. You'll make a mint!

He isn't great at cleaning himself, actually. He doesn't spend a lot of time on it. He's 4 months old now.

Have you considered giving him a bath? We do ours about once a month. Ours don't mind being cleaned - not like a moggy would.
