7 year old girl with blood in wee

She was a very timid rescue - came to us 4 years and has grown in confidence though never got as far as sitting on a lap.

Every now and then I catch her weeing somewhere she shouldn't - in a corner or on some clothes, but not often. However this became more regular and noticed blood in the wee. Vet gave her an antibiotic injection and said bring her back in 3 weeks if not sorted. They would then want to keep her in so they can extract urine from her bladder via a needle for testing. Vet suggested it may be stress related. Have been having some work done in the house but guys doing it are cat people and have been really kind to her and she has access to outdoors so can go out whenever.

It's been a week since she went to the vet and the wee that I've found (in the bath) today had blood in it. Work to house now finished.

Anyone had anything similar happen to their cat or can offer any advice?

Sparklingcat had this and it was indeed stress related cystitis. She was being ambushed daily by the local ASBO cat. She would run in, go straight to the tray and do a wee with blood in while doing this awful wailing.

She was fine after a week or so, she had antibiotics IIRC but it passed.

That's reassuring Spark

There's a product called cystease, it's stopped our cats stress cystitis. Cats are really sensitive & don't take things well.

If there's blood she needs the vet again though.

I mix water in our cats food to push more fluid through him.

Take her back to the vet. She obviously still has cystitis and they need to get it sorted out.

Sounds like a bad bout of cystitis and she's probably in pain as well. Unfortunately, this very common in cats. I'd take her to vets. Hope she gets better soon

Stress related cystitis sounds v likely - both my too older girls had this.

Stick Feliways up everywhere (we used to keep a stock for when either got stressed), lots of litter trays so she has lots of choice. Both also went on a urinary diet to prevent stone production.

Always used to happen when something stressful happened in their world, usually one deciding to bully the other. Could stop an episode rapidly with Feliway, extra trays and some Metacam.
