Vet says my boy kitten is not ready to be neutered

But I'm not so sure! He's a rescue so not sure of his exact age but he's around 5.5 months, still has baby teeth. I have two older female cats and he's recently started 'sniffing' them Problem is, I'm going away 21-31st and my friend is looking after them - shall I get him done before I go? I don't want him being a sex pest but the vet said he'll be OK until after Christmas (based on his teeth).

My 4 month boy/girl kittens have just been done. Actually I'm not sure they were even 4 months - the vet brought it forward as boy kitten is absolutely massive. The size of him! Kind of wish we could have left it a bit to see how big he could have got! He's the size our old girl was at the age of 17!

I am however trying to get a photo of him wearing a tiny Santa hat but he's having none of it

We had boy and girl kittens so hot them done as young as possible which I think was 4 months. He grew up to be a big lad, she was always tiny.

Thistle that's never a four month old cat! He's a metre long!

He weighs a ton! 8 weeks ago he was smaller than his sister, a tiny scrawny thing. Now he's twice her size! This is him at 8 weeks - how has he grown so much!

What are you feeding him?! I've had two black and white boycats and they ate me out of house and home. Just sayin'

Mine wasn't neutered until at least 1 or possibly 2 years old.
He was removed from a house along with 59 other cats. He's probably his own first cousin and a farther multiple times. This is how easily it gets out of hand.
He's a gorgeous big lump of a cat, but it really should never have got to the point where he was in existence.
Don't let your cat outside until he's been done and try another vet asap. He's old enough.

Thanks Weeds for your story; I've just updated saying my boy was neutered today.

I was advised to leave mine as long as possible, better for their growth apparently

Blimey. My Bengal cross boy was done at about 4½ months & he's massive - wondering how big he'd have been if I'd waited

The same as checklist. The vet assured us that brother and sister kitten were too young to be neutered and were “only playing” 🙀 shortly later we became a feline family of 6.😡

Apologies OP, didn't see you had him done. That wasn't meant to be a lecture, by the way, just a sad tale of what can happen.

No worries Weeds I know it's a nightmare trying to keep these darned cats under control.
