Has anyone found a cat pill popper/giver that actually helps?

I need one or something to help the cat take a daily pill - far too clever now to take it wrapped in food. The reviews of all the ones I have seen on-line are dreadful and say they are more likely to hurt the cat then anything else. Has anyone found something that helps? Thanks very much.

I tried everything with my girl, she needed daily thyroid medication that couldn't be crushed. What worked for us in the end was putting the pill in a small blob of malt or liver paste, served on the back of a teaspoon before her dinner. We used the Miamor ones from zooplus, one sachet lasted about a week. Not quite what you're asking I know but the pill popper gadgets didn't work for us.

We have the one that kind of fires the pill down the throat. Needs to be a two person job involving a tea towel round the cat to avoid being maimed. Not ideal and I have only needed it for wormer so far. Is this one of the ones you have seen?

My vet showed me how to give pills? Has yours shown you how to do it? Put your hand over the top of their head and hold their top jaw, tip their head back and their mouth opens, just drop the pill down their throat, works every time for me. You have to do it when they are not expecting it. I usually approach them when they are sleeping. Catch them unawares 😃

I do as dodie and it usually works well. With my big boy, I usually wrap him in towel so he wriggle away and get somebody else to hold him whist I drop the pill in.

lol that vet would be ripped to shreds if he tried that with Qcat.

luckily he adores his treats, so will actually "beg" for his pills/treats if i forget.

oh one tip i heard is to coat the pill in butter..... helps them slip a bit easier, and disguise nasty taste.

Fattycat is on 3 pills twice daily. I shove it all in s pill giver thing and down it goes. Struggling to get the Square frusemide tablets in it. But she's as good as gold. I tried the pill pouch treats. But I had to shove those down. (No way will she ever just eat one) and the lump was to big for her to easily swallow. Obviously I realised this only after I'd orders a new packet at great expense!

I'm so relived Fatty is docile, it's stressful enough that she's been diagnosed with cardiomyopathy. But having to battle her to get pills down her would be awful.

I have used a pill popper with success! One hint I was given was to put a drop of water in it before wedging the pill in. When you squirt the pill in it is then washed straight down. But only a drop. Don't want to drown the kitty!
