End of my tether with fleas...and now a tick

My cat is just over a year old. Since we got her I have treated her like clockwork each month for fleas, ticks and worms. We have had no problem with any of them or seen any evidence of any pests until the last 6 weeks.

After the hot weather at the end of August we started finding flea dirt and eggs. I treated her like usual at the usual time (beginning of September with Frontline spot-on) but the fleas didn’t go completely despite this. She was still leaving flea dirt where she slept although it was less than before. I treated her again at the beginning of October and almost two weeks later she is still scratching, I’m finding flea dirt where she sleeps and today I noticed a tick on her neck.

I am so fed up with trying to get rid of the fleas (and now tick). I need advice. Heeeeeeeeeeelp!

I use the three month treatment too, it's fab. Not sign of ticks or fleas.

Bravecto is my preferred treatment, it shouldn't smell of petrol ( I have applied hundreds of doses).
All the scare stories have been in dogs, but in truth the adverse reactions are lower than the average prescription only medicine.
My practice has sold 1500 cat doses and just shy of 10,000 dog doses and we have had three dogs who have had vomiting after use.

Thanks for the confirmation that it's safe, Lone Cat. Lordy knows where the petrolly smell came from. Archcat didn't like it, but he hates treatments of all sorts, including Frontline and Profender. He runs away from me mock scared and spends the evening sulking under the sofa after it's been done - so reducing that to 4 times a year would be good.

I'm seriously considering Bravecto as we're using Advocate religiously buy every time I comb Pucinni he's got fleas. They might well be sterile or half dead but must be so uncomfortable for him.
