Kidney stones - my poor girl

DemonBaby · 05/10/2017 21:03

Our lovely 4 year old girl has been diagnosed as having "big kidney little kidney" syndrome due to previous kidney stones causing blockages. She has had two previous episodes of acute kidney failure which she recovered from after IV fluids flushed the stones out.

There is no curing this, all we can do now is put her on a renal diet and keep a close eye on her. If the stones reoccur we'll have to do IV fluids again and hope she doesn't get any too big to pass.

Just feel sad for her. Anyone else's cat had this?

Sorry, no experience of this, but it sounds as if you and the vet are monitoring closely.
At least you know she has the condition and know what symptoms to look out for, so you'll be able to act quickly if she shows any signs. Poor girl.

Sorry just sending some good wishes as mine has just come out of a 7 day stay at the vets due to pancreatitis and liver issues . Flowers

There is an operation, kidney stents but it is around £6000

Our cat had the op but sadly only lived another 6 months afterwards as her kidneys were just too damaged to recover by the time we realised she was poorly in the first instance

Yes we know about the op. The vet says he wouldn't advise it as she is so young she'll likely need more than one.

At the moment all we can do is feed her special food and keep a very close eye on her Sad
