Neighbours cat sitting on my door canopy

I owned a cat for 10yrs who sadly passed away a year ago. Didn't feel I wanted to get a new one, due to frequent trips away from home. In the last month a new neighbours cat has started hanging around in my front garden. The cat has now established a daily routine of sitting on my front door canopy. She/he doesn't meow or attempt to come inside. Would it be possible that the scent of my cat still exists after a year and would this draw cats in?

I would have thought it was more lack of cat scent after this time that meant other cats felt safe wandering around the area previously marked by your cat.

Hadn't even considered that! My old girl wasn't the best mixer, preferring her own company. She'd be furious to witness another cat stretching out on her turf!

Sounds as if your canopy is providing a sort of "check mate" cat chess position Smile

NDN's little girl has been sitting on my conservatory roof almost since the day I moved in. I think she likes it there because the evil bastard orange & white tom can't seem to get up there. As mine are indoors only and son't go into the conservatory (small, tatty, storage only area), she still sunbathes there regularly.
