Is the first time you see your cat catching a mouse, the first time?

Fatcat caught a mouse yesterday, I’ve never known her to catch mice before, I had to wrangle the dog and other cat into the house before an all out brawl occurred over the poor mousie.

We rescued her at 4 years old, and until she was 8 she was purely an indoor cat, she is now about 13.
The first couple of years we had her she was incredibly stressed and anxious, she used to lick all the fur off her belly which the vet put down to stress.
Can this really be the same cat that is now a fairly proficient mouser? Has she likely been catching mice for a while and I’ve just not known?

I thought they would get lazier in old age.

I have a pic of her with her prize but wasn’t sure if some might find it squeamish.

She may have been catching and eating, but if you haven't had the odd one carted in to play with before now, chances are it's the first time she's got lucky.
