‘Cruel’ cat owners criticised amid growing trend of fitting pets with fake nails to show off on social media | London Evening Standard www.standard.co.uk/news/uk/cruel-cat-owners-criticised-amid-growing-trend-of-fitting-pets-with-fake-nails-to-show-off-on-social-a3634576.html

Just saw this and my thoughts were WTF?! I mean why would you do this to your already beautiful cat?

I don't point blank refuse to believe that some cats prefer to be indoors. Tht would be silly. I point blank refuse to believe that they should not be given the choice

My puss is indoors so I have wondered about trimming claws - I have been feeling guilty about not doing it, but not sure she would let me. May ask vet when I am in for jabs (wuss)

My DCat is free to come and go as she pleases. She's young and healthy but a little softie and in winter she often won't leave the house more than once a week or so. Her claws do get a bit too long, to the point where I can hear them when she walks. I've given the back ones a tiny trim on occasion but there's no chance she'll let me do the front ones Shock

Anyway those claw covers look absolutely hideous and cruel and anyone who puts them on a cat is a fucker IMO.

When we adopted our cats we were told they were indoor cats and had never ventured out.
At a check up/registration at vets, she was glad to hear they were indoor cats. Said the majority of injuries she treats are due to outdoor cats in fights or car accident.
After reading all this I feel like a terrible pet owner.

Indoor=bad
Clipping nails=bad
Considering nail caps= evil

Is it too late to let them outside now? Will they get lost or bullied after being indoor cats for their whole 9months?
I don't want them to be unhappy (they seem content but how would I know?)

Orangebird69 · 20/09/2017 17:03

unfucking,,if they're happy and stimulated indoors they're fine! But, if you want to give it a go letting them out, I can't see why not. I have 4 cats (rescued as feral kittens, 6 weeks old maximum) that I kept indoors for 2 years. They've now had free access to outside for 2 years and are loving it.

Good to know orangebird69 I might see how they go
