15 year old cat vomited after eating and there was fresh blood in it.

He seems otherwise well (for an oldie) but I don't know what to do or what it could mean. Also, he is absolutely petrified of the vets! He won't get in the box and if and when I have had to take him (rarely) he defecates with fear. Maybe I should call the vet out...?

Was there a lot of blood? It could have just been the force of vomiting burst a vessel in his throat? Does he seem ok in himself?

Hi EarlessTV, yes he does seem OK. I mean he is stone deaf now but he has come for a cuddle on the settee which he does every night. He doesn't seem uncomfortable at all, but it is so hard to tell! he hasn't eaten again but I have not offered it anyway which is normal. I guess I will monitor tomorrow morning and see if the same happens again. If it does it is off to the vets with him I think!

Yes keep an eye on him and you could call for advice if you're worried. Possibly TMI here; I think I burst a blood vessel puking once, freaked me out in the middle of the night but all was ok.
