Roll up roll up, place your bets, kitten with wet head...

Siggy (5 month old kitten) just strolled in, came over and jumped on my lap. Was trying to eat tea, so thought that was his intent, but he was a bit sheepish. I put my hand down to push him away and the top of his head is proper soaking. Tail and one front paw damp.

He is OBSESSED with watching the toilet flush. If he can, he will 'explore' the shower cubicle. He likes sitting in the bath and in any sink, bathroom or kitchen. Also sitting on me if I'm on the loo...

I have no real way of knowing how he got wet (unless he enticed his brother in to the wet place too and he's stuck there - no yowling though). Any guesses, anyone?

Anyone else's cat obsessed with toilets and sinks?

I recently learned that cats like to drink from running water and that's why they always go for taps/showers/flushing toilets. It was a real eye opener for me and then explained the cats obsession for such items.

He has worked out he can lick the taps to get a little water, so I might end up getting them a water fountain. I've not let them have wet pouches for a few days as they outsmarted me and got some chicken fat, with predictable and disgusting results. They've definitely drank a lot more while on dry food!

Update, his brother is not stuck in a toilet, he was quietly asleep and has just come in looking disgruntled that we're all in the living room without him!

My cat is also obsessed with toilets. I wish she'd be more interested in sinks; she often sits in the sink to get a good view of the toilet flushing (!) and I always have to push her gently out of the way so I can use the tap without upsetting her. I think she'd quite enjoy sinks if she had the attention span to realise they were just as exciting as toilets.

She has a water fountain and won't use a normal bowl for water unless she has to. She acts a lot like a kitten despite being old enough to know better.

I think that's why he climbed in there originally, briette! Then he discovered the belly cooling properties of sinks and the magic of licking the taps...

He's cross with me now as I keep lifting him down from beside the washing up bowl full of intriguing bubbles and water...

My Biscuit loves water.

Cookie, not so much!
