New kitten has tapeworm, freaking out a bit, best advice for house hygiene?

Yikes! I found tapeworm segments coming out of one of our new kittens. They've had advocate with their first injections, and haven't been allowed out yet, so I assumed we were flea and worm proof for a while. But obviously kitten must have caught it at her breeders, and hasn't been tapeworm treated.
I've booked both kittens in for a treatment tomorrow. Can anyone advise me on best type of cleaning to set about now? Do dried tapeworm segments stay..'active' to reinfect kittens? Will a 60degree wash be enough to kill anything off? Should I dettol the floor?
We are new to cat ownership, and whilst my own kids poo, wee, vomit etc doesn't phase me, I do feel quite grossed out, much as I love our new kittens!

Dettol - or any disinfectant that goes cloudy on contact with water - is poisonous to cats, as are some other types. Urge you to read the small print and double check online.

Thanks dandeliondelilah. I did pick up some wipes the other day in the supermarket that had a warning on them saying they were dangerous to pets. I got some dettol surface wipes, that are supoosed to be ok to use where food is prepared, so assumed these would be safe for pets. It doesn't say otherwise. But dettol cleaning liquid is different I suppose, thanks for the warning.
I just want to bleach the house! I'm not normally that fussy about a bit of dirt, but this has freaked me out.

Any ideas about temperature of wash needed to make bedding safe again? And I'm all confused about life span of tapeworm...I think the treatment will kill the actual adult worm in 24 hr, but will love bits keep coming out...and will there be bits around in the floor to reinfect the kittens? I'm having trouble finding good advice pages.

Could this also be the reason why one kitten is smaller than the other? Does it make them hungry but not put on weight?
