New Kitty arriving at the Frazzle house in four weeks!

We are so excited!

But... we've only had one cat for 9 years and a bit nervous about introducing the new one.

I've read to put the new one in a separate room to begin with, with a baby gate at the door so they can get to know each other gently. But, can't cats (kittens especially) get through the bars?

I'd love some advice if you have any!

We are in the same position- new one arrives tomorrow! It's a tabby too. Our siamese is 4 and is used to other cats so we are hoping it will take to the new one.

We are putting in a separate room until they have bonded and until the kitten has all vacs and can use cat flap and garden.
DD has cleared out bathroom and put in bed/toys/litter tray etc
My main worry is that he is used to all his brothers and sisters in the cat rescue.

oh, so sweet! I just love tabbies.
Our older girl is used to other cats but only neighbours' cats, and she regularly fights with them. She's very territorial!
We look after other people's dogs sometimes and she is never very pleased when they come over, but she is slowly getting used to that.

Not sure how she'll fare when she realises the new kitten will be staying. I am hoping she will understand that she is a baby and not threaten her too much. wishful thinking though I think

I mean I'm hoping she won't see the new kitten as a threat.

I like the idea of keeping the new one in a separate room until jabs etc.

Also my daughter and I will both be out sometimes in the day so we wanted to have a safe place for him - in the rescue he was very lively and climbing over everything . We have also put a stratching post thing in there -the other cat has never been interested.
