My 7 month old kitten is getting castrated tomrorow and it said no food after 7. I completely forgot and put him in the utility with a bowl of food. I realised at about 7:40 and raced to get him out. He was fast asleep and looked like he'd been asleep for a while. I'm now panicking weather it will be safe or not?! I'm not keen on rearranging really because I'm pushing it with him yet to be 'mature' already and my vets takes ages for apointnets to come in. Ofcourse I will do what's best for him though!

I wouldn't worry about it. I always took the food off mine when I went to bed at 22.00. In humans the starving time is only 6 hours for food.

Food is fine up until midnight really, I don't know why vets still advise to fast for so long because there's really no need. Don't worry his tummy will be empty by morning (I'm a vet nurse).

Our elderly cat is having an op in a few days, and the vet told us to give no food after 8pm. So hopefully that means your lad will be fine :)

It's fine! I'm a vet :)

Yep. It's fine

Thank you everyone so much for reassuring me! I'm pretty anxious about the anaesthetic (can you tell?!)Gin
