My next door neighbour said his cats had been behaving funny and my Daphne tonight was hissing like mad but didn't really want to stay outside I thought it was Dolly crying but she's mute.

Anyway I got a torch and under my fire escape is a lone kitten its eyes are closed it's white and black it's crying how did it get there I can't reach it. I don't know what to do it's so late

Ring RSPCA or cats protection

viques · 12/08/2017 22:50

Can't you go down the fire escape?

Amee1992x · 12/08/2017 22:54

RSPCA/SSPCA, mum probably dropped it moving them

Fettuccinecarbonara · 12/08/2017 22:55

Can you get anything down there to reach it? Bbq tongs? Or is it a long way away?

sizeofalentil · 12/08/2017 22:56

Do you have a long fishing net? Could a mother cat get down there to retrieve it. She might be moving multiple kittens and come back

Bagely · 12/08/2017 22:59

Are there any Facebook groups for possible cat rescuers in your local area that you could contact?

EachandEveryone · 12/08/2017 23:00

Yes it's dissapeared!!!! My
Long legged neighbour just got in from work and we got the torches out he climbed over the stairs and moved the watering can and it's gone how weird

ask for something to grab it on fb! you cant leave it - it will die!

stillvicarinatutu · 12/08/2017 23:02

mum might have retrieved it.....

cushioncovers · 12/08/2017 23:12

Keep us updated op

Its not cold tonight which is a blessing. Its seriously not there i think the neighbour thought i was mad. Funnily he told me that last night he got in from work we have a mutual door and landing the catflap is at the back where the fire escape is, so as he flicks the light on he hears the catflap bang shut. His cats were in and mine dont go out on a night so i wonder who that was?

I've just had a good look in daylight and can't see it I took my cat out as well and she went straight to the spot and had a good sniff. Should I try and find the mom and feed her? I can't hear anything I hope she hasn't moved them into the hairdressers downstairs they really hate cats!

thecatneuterer · 13/08/2017 13:07

Yes you should try to find the mum and feed her. I would try to attract her to somewhere close to you. Keep putting food there and try to keep an eye out. When you see her coming regularly call CP.

EachandEveryone · 13/08/2017 15:45

God I'm not sure how next doors will feel about that they are already complaining about a tom that's hanging around they says he got through our cat flap the other day

OP posts:
thecatneuterer · 13/08/2017 17:15

Well you can tell them you are doing it so as to be able to get them trapped and neutered. If no one does anything there will be at least 20 cats there before the end of next year and then they'll complain! You can also ask CP to neuter the tom at the same time

thecatneuterer · 13/08/2017 17:17

OP, I have a feeling you have already mentioned the area you live in but I don't remember. As I always trot out on here - If it's London, Essex,Liverpool or North Wales I may be able to suggest or put you in contact with someone. Failing that then Cats Protection.

EachandEveryone · 13/08/2017 17:21

Its a very urban not nice part of London we are off the high street so loads of food shops around. I havent noticed strays but i obviously dont go looking just concentrate on my own two. They would have been there for many years i expect. My girl is nearly five months i might ring the vet tomorrow and see if she will consider doing her early. She was adamant with daphne that it has to be six months. Just incase shes attracting the tom. I dont see how though with her being a flat cat.

thecatneuterer · 13/08/2017 17:22

I'm going to pm you.

EachandEveryone · 14/08/2017 10:39

I can't see or hear any signs of them I rang my vet and she said there's lots of colonies in the area and it's a losing battle unfortunately.

OP posts:
thecatneuterer · 14/08/2017 11:17

Well in that case it's something we need to know about so we can do something about it. Please pm me so we can discuss.

thecatneuterer · 14/08/2017 11:19

It's a battle that can be won (with a lot of effort on our part)!

EachandEveryone · 14/08/2017 11:26

Trouble is that I can't see or hear them so I couldn't even point you in the right direction it's really not pleasant and the people around the back are not accommodating they don't even like to talk to me

OP posts:
Vinorosso74 · 14/08/2017 11:38

Good work TCN!

thecatneuterer · 14/08/2017 11:54

Well please just reply to my pm and tell me where you are and we, ie Celia Hammonds, will take it from there. This is the sort of situation we deal with day in, day out. But we can't do anything if you don't tell me where you are. We could also maybe speak to your vets as it sounds as though they have some information.

EachandEveryone · 14/08/2017 11:58

Hi,

I replied yesterday. I've sent another one. What shall I ask the vet? She is in Mill Hill it's very North!
