So worried about my girl (cat)

Hi

Just posting to see if anyone else has had anything similar happen. My 3.5 year old girl (she's a pedigree breed but was a rescue) was hospitalised around this time last year due to the fact that she was refusing food and was lethargic. She had bloods done and it was found her kidney function was impaired. She was put on a drip and completely recovered, and has been perfectly healthy until yesterday when her symptoms re-started. I took her to the vet first thing this morning, he did bloods, called me to confirm it was her kidneys playing up again and now and she's on an IV drip for 24 hours. He says himself she is not nearly so poorly this time round as she was last time round so he is hopeful we can pick her up tomorrow. However she'll then be referred to a feline specialist who might be able to determine why this is happening as our regular vet is baffled.

I'm so scared she will die. She's an indoor cat so she really has no exposure to toxins (we don't have plants in the house and cleaning products etc are locked away).

I don't know how the same thing could happen twice a year apart :(

Any experiences? Our vet is totally baffled.

I've no idea. I was going to say toxins until I read that far. I hope they get to the bottom of it and hope she's ok

Thank you. I just called and they said she's quite cheerful.

How is she now OP?

Is it polycystic kidneys? More common in Persian, Persian cross cats? Hope she's feeling better and back home soon.

She's still in hospital. Her creatinine levels are down from circa 1300 (Sad) to 300. Still high but much better.

They are still none the wiser WRT the cause but she is eating now at least.

They have referred her for an ultrasound.

Her sister is wandering round the house crying for her Sad

Polycystic kidneys was my thought too but then surely she wouldn't have been perfectly ok in between this episode and the last?
