I think my cats cancer may have come back

Just before Christmas I found a lump in my cats tummy, took him straight to the vets where they removed the lump, test resaults came back and it was a very aggressive type of cancer, I was told that t might come back and if it did chances are nothing could be done. My cat is only 6 years old and the best cat I have ever owned, he has got me through some tough times and the thought of losing him is unbearable.

Anyway the past few weeks he has been losing weight and staying out a lot. I'm not sure if it's just his summer coat looking a bit scruffy or if he is ill. I can feel any lumps on him but I'm worried something maybe going on internally. I know I should take him to the vet and I will next week. He is on dry food and I'm wondering if this is the cause? Should I try and bulk him up with a bit of wet food? He doesn't eat huge amounts, just pops in and out and picks.

His eating so little is worrying. If it wasn't for that I would wonder if he might have an over-active thyroid, but that would increase his appetite, too.

I would try offering some wet or fresh food (e.g. chicken) with his dry food. He might just be jaded and bored.

I hope the vet has good news. It is never easy to lose a beloved companion.

Is he insured? We have had CT scans and MRIs done in cancer cases with our pets.

Definitely get him checked again as persistent weight loss needs investigating regardless. Wet food is much better for him than dry anyway so well worth switching to that to see if his appetite improves.

He's not insured due to him being ill and being involved in a accident ( insurance company won't touch him ). I will pick him up some wet food tomorrow as he might just be fed up with the dry food.

Does he feel skinny or just look it? My boy has lost his magnificent mane for the summer and looks like a completely different cat ( still feels like picking up a bear cub though).
They do seem to eat less in the summer, but absolutely take him to the vet and get a professional opinion.
