sick cat blood in poo/diarrhoea

my poor cat has had bad diarrhoea today, never had this bad before although had a lesser version for a few days a couple of weeks ago. ended up taking her to the emergency vet out of hours hospital this afternoon as ended up having a bit of blood in the fluid. she is so pitiful. the vet didn't seem overly worried, seems to think it is probably an infection/parasite. gave her an injection and given us some penicillin pills to give her. she is drinking a little water. no interest in food although i have boiled up some plain chicken. will have to take her back tomorrow morning if there is no change/not drinking. really worried and don't know how i will be able to sleep. have had to lock her in one room (which is connected to the kitchen and bathroom (no carpets). anyone else had this? i was concerned that perhaps she was eating something she shouldn't have from the garden although vet thinks unlikely as she doesn't appear to be sick (i would have noticed)

It's such a worry when they're not well. How is she this morning ?

Yes twice.
In one case it was a simple colitis - just an infection that cleared up with antibiotics after a while.
In the other it was a symptom of more serious issues.
How old is she?
The vet will give you a better idea if you ask him/her. Some of my vets have been reluctant to tell me all the possibilities until I have pressed them but for me it helps to know.

Thanks for responses. The good news is that when I went down this morning there was no sign of any more poo. She is quiet and pathetic. Came close to tears, me not the cat.. She doesn't seem to have eaten. Can't tell if she has drunk. I am self employed and need to work today but am checking in with dh and dd constantly who seem to think she seems not too bad as she hangs out in the garden. I have to give her her first half pill tonight. Dreading it as all the you tube vids in the world don't make it any easier. Will take her to my vets tomorrow morning who are fab. I was shocked at how young the vet was. I know it takes A LOT longer to qualify as a vet compared to a Dr. She looked about 15. As she spoke it sounded like she was quoting lines straight out of a text book although I'm breing mean as she was nice enough and seemed confident with what she said. What are the bad possibilities that it could be? She is only 2 1/2 pure breed white Persian (if that helps?) Thanks 😔
