Cat waking me up so he can go to sleep .....100% cat slave now!

Just as the title says really! I've had my cat for three months now and I when I first got him I was determined I would have some rules.... no walking on the table, definitely no walking on the work tops and definitely ( DEFINITELY !!!) no sleeping in my room!
So, as many of you experienced cat slaves pointed out, this was futile!!!!
I finally relented to leaving my door open at night- just to stop the relentless scratching - and things were fine for a while .... he would sleep on the floor or at the end of my bed and were both be happy with this ( or so I thought). He now has a new trick up his sleeve though.... he's started scratching the duvet, trying to bury himself under it or just jumping on my head when I'm asleep. This only stops when I finally give up pretending to be asleep and give him a stroke - at which point he lies down on top of me, purring like a lawnmower before promptly going to sleep again!!! It seems that he wants me to be awake just so I can see him go to sleep😼😼😼 This is now happening 2-3 times each night! The first time he did this I thought it was lovely and took it as a sign he just wanted to be close to me so enjoyed it. It is now happening so frequently though that I am regretting not sticking to my previous rules 😬
Does anyone else have problems setting boundaries for their Dcat for fear of offending them or is it just me???

One of mine does this. But she seems to sense when I'm stirring/ waking up and will come for a snuggle. Her sister will occasionally follow and plonk her self on my head. The lawn mower purring is actually quite nice to go to sleep too.

Just one of my 3 cats sleeps on my bed. She has her own blanket on the bed and maybe this helps to keep her away from my head!
