Oh dear. He is oppressed, isn't he, poor love? How does he take to having drops?

Ollivander84 · 14/07/2017 15:39

Begrudgingly with a slight hint of running away. I opened the carrier, he saw the vet and flumped down dramatically on his side Grin

Ah ... Non-violent protest that Ghandi would be proud of.

Ollivander84 · 14/07/2017 15:44

Yep. Hides under the bed, pitiful howls and huge sulking eyes

OP posts:
YetAnotherSpartacus · 14/07/2017 15:46

Oh dear ... Those eyes. They really are quite hypnotic ... "you are in my power ... You will do as I say...".

Ollivander84 · 14/07/2017 15:49

So cross but still loving on me Grin

We had someone pop round today who said, "That's a big cat. Is she pregnant?" No, he is just fat. Blush

Papergirl1968 · 14/07/2017 19:01

Going to the vets on Tuesday for his annual health check and jabs. I'm dreading him being weighed and out into the Podgy a Pets club...

Papergirl1968 · 14/07/2017 19:02

FFS - put in the Podgy Pets club!

TheCatOfAthenry · 14/07/2017 19:08

I like podgy cats!

Bisky howled all the way to the vet but didn't even flinch at the jab.

Cookie was very upset to see us go. The Queen has since forgiven me and let me kiss her tummy.

YetAnotherSpartacus · 14/07/2017 19:10

Ollivander - the two of you are so obviously smitten ...
Papergirl - oh dear .. I have friends who kind of rotate their foot and look down whenever their pudgy pusses are weighed ....

Ollivander84 · 14/07/2017 20:08

Bloody eye drops. I did not get them in and now I have a sad cat who is outside

OP posts:
Papergirl1968 · 14/07/2017 21:11

Thanks, Cozie. He is definitely overweight, possibly obese. In his defence though, he is a long, big boned cat.
He snoozed through most of the winter but in the summer he is out a lot - always reappearing for meals though as he just loves his food...

cozietoesie · 14/07/2017 21:23

Believe me, I know the problem. This new one is clearing his plate so quickly and so completely that I'm dying to hold him if only to feel his ribs etc. Grin

Allergictoironing · 14/07/2017 21:58

Mine's food consumption is going up & down like mad the last few weeks, but strangely they seem to eat more in the HOT weather Confused.

They are also far too used to me being at home & at their beck & call since I lost my job recently. Girlcat expects me to drop anything I'm doing at any time to stroke her & tickle her floofy belly, and demands my attention very noisily if I don't respond to a pair of enormous green eyes drilling through my back e.g. if I'm on the PC gaming she shouts loud enough so I can hear through the headphones. Boycat wanders over when I'm sitting on the sofa with a pleading look in his eyes then jumps up onto his end, whereupon I have to move to sit next to him pulling his ears, scritching his bum & eventually tickle HIS floofy belly while he purrs in a sort of grunting way & drools all over the throws. He's turned into a right cuddle monster as long as there's no hint of anyone else in or near the house - he streaks upstairs in a panic if he even hears the postman walking up to the door, pathetic thing that he is (but I still love him).

cozietoesie · 14/07/2017 22:02

Oneago used to HATE the postie. (He'd actually growl when he heard the van coming up the road.)

Ollivander84 · 14/07/2017 22:05

Ollie is still not speaking to me. Eye drops are not happening, I can't get them in SadSad

OP posts:
cozietoesie · 14/07/2017 22:08

Thus speaks one who is well and truly under the paw.

Ollivander84 · 14/07/2017 22:10

I don't have enough hands Grin
I can keep his body trapped but he flails his head around like he's auditioning for the exorcist

OP posts:
TheLongRider · 14/07/2017 23:40

Have you tried the cat burrito in a towel with just his head sticking out? Or trapping his body between your knees on the ground and using your hand to hold his head?

You may not be forgiven for some time.

Ollivander84 · 14/07/2017 23:44

Yep. I can do all that but I need a hand for the eye drops and one to open his eye and I can't keep his head still at all, he's just thrashes around
I've managed to drop some on a cotton bud and kind of shove them in near his tear duct

OP posts:
Ollivander84 · 14/07/2017 23:46

DONE IT!!! Grin
He was lay down asleep so I opened his eye and popped it on the white bit where he couldn't see. He didn't jump as I did it so it went straight in. Now just another 2 doses for 4 days....

TheLongRider · 14/07/2017 23:55

Great! I forgot that I got the tip to put eye ointment into my DD's eye when she was asleep. It worked a treat and she didn't even wince. The same principle might work on Ollie.
