I don't think I'm ever going to see my fluffy boy again

He went missing when we were on holiday, last but one day and the friend feeding them didn't see him. He's an old man, we've had him 7 years as a rescue.

We've done posters, fb, walked around every evening shaking dreamies. He went missing for 2 weeks last year when we moved house, but we found him because people saw him and called us.

Over 2 weeks now and not a single sighting. I don't know what else we can do. I miss him.

Don't give up hope. Our cat vanished for six weeks the day after we moved house. She came home three weeks ago, with Hepatitis and huge weight loss but has made a full recovery.

How awful Sad You must be beside yourselves.

Is he microchipped? I hate to say this but have you called the council incase he has been knocked down? Not all of them scan for a chip frustratingly but they should have a description of any animals they've collected.

Don't be afraid to knock on doors and ask if you can check neighbours sheds/ garages/ gardens. He may be too spooked to come out and need you to hunt him down. Also going out late at night when it's quiet is useful. Take a torch so cats eyes reflect back.

Fingers crossed for you Flowers

Our cat disappeared for three weeks when he was being looked after by DH's parents. We put a lot of photos on social media and someone who knew a lady who had been feeding him for a few days got in touch!

I think you'll find him! Good luck.

Sparklingbrook · 17/06/2017 22:30

Don't give up hope. There was a stray hanging about here a while ago. Managed to catch her and take her to the vets. She was reunited with her family after being missing 6 months.

WifeofUthred · 17/06/2017 22:38

Thanks. Yeah he is microchipped. He only has 2 teeth, so a bit worried about him feeding himself- he's not much of Hunter!

I've bumped the fb post and mentioned how much my 4 yr old misses him. That might help if someone has taken him in!

Right off out to look for him again!

Please don't give up hope.

My beautiful Kenneth went missing this week, he came back tonight in a shocking state, looks like he was caught on barbed wire, torn to shreds and covered in flies eggs. He's at the vets right now and I'm waiting for her to call me ( trying to distract myself with mumsnetting) he's had to have a GA. Keep calling him, as often as you can, I'm convinced Kenneth fought to get home because he could hear me.
Post on local lost and found FB sites. Make some flyers with his picture and put them through as many neighbour's doors as you can. Don't give up hope, keep calling him.
Sending love.

Honestly please do not give up hope.
My mum had a dog as little girl and it got lost while they were on holiday (dog on holiday with them).
My mum was obviously heart broken.
Anyway 6 weeks later her dog came bounding up the street to her.
It's like the film Homeward bound.
Hope your fluffy boy comes home

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 17/06/2017 23:53

Hed found his way home from
Llandudno to Liverpool

Asmoto · 17/06/2017 23:58

How awful for you Flowers. I do hope your fluffy cat comes home. I think cats can manage to feed themselves, teeth or no teeth - I was worried when my late tabby girl had to have a number of hers removed, and the vet told me he'd known of cats with all their teeth removed who still hunted and ate cat biscuits - and it certainly made no difference to my girl.

Snafflebrain · 17/06/2017 23:59

Can you go calling him very early in the morning - like 5/6am. I've had a few lost cats over the years and I've had the best success after an early morning search. I've never found the cats whilst looking but theyve rocked up within a couple of hours later. I hope you find him.

Onthehighseas · 18/06/2017 00:03

Have you put notes through all the local houses' doors? Our old boy disappeared when we were away on holiday. 3 weeks later someone responded to our plea - the bloody cat had followed someone home from the pub and moved in! Please dont give up hope yet.

IHopeYouStepOnALegoPiece · 18/06/2017 20:29

My friends lovely boy was missing for 10 weeks, no one saw a single hair of him until 9 weeks on...it then took a week for someone else to spot him and he strolled home a couple of days later! (10 days after she'd adopted a new cat!)

It does happen x

VintagePerfumista · 19/06/2017 08:35

I will join you in a handhold and ask for one too. Mine is missing since last Tuesday and I've just, for the first time, sat and had a little weep because I've let myself think he's not coming back. He went missing the day before dd started her exams.

ifonly4 · 19/06/2017 10:20

My heart goes out to you.

Have you phoned vets, animal shelters, rescue centres etc just in case he's been taken into any of them? Most will happily take your details just in case.

I know it's a few days now, but have you actually knocked on the doors of neighbours along your road and behind and actually asked them to look in their sheds. This probably wouldn't be the greatest news if he's been in one for a few days, but at least you could now.

beserious · 24/06/2017 23:26

Any update @WifeofUthred?

Mimipoo · 25/06/2017 06:38

Can I join you in hand holding. I lost my beautiful little cat last Sunday. Completely disappeared.

VintagePerfumista · 25/06/2017 07:45

Hi Mimi Flowers and a hand-hold for you.

Mine has never come back. It's been almost 2 weeks now. I'm not giving up, we are still scouring the area and have posters put up on lamp-posts etc.

It's amazing though how many cats do just turn back up again after weeks.

Hope that OP's puss turned up safe and sound.

WifeofUthred · 25/06/2017 09:42

Nothing. Still not one sighting, which is strange considering getting last time her was gone for two weeks and we had 4.

Just nothing. :(

WifeofUthred · 25/06/2017 09:44

It's been 3 and half weeks now. It's like he just vanished.

VintagePerfumista · 25/06/2017 17:16

Oh Wife, was hoping at least yours was back. Sad

Aren't they little buggers? Mine was so bloody pampered. I've had a few people call with sightings but there's another all black mog in the 'hood and it's him they are seeing, not my wonky-tailed eejit.

Mine also went missing within 2 hours. He went out at 5.30 and is usually back at 7 when I get up, that day he wasn't, so whatever happened, happened in that 90 minutes.

RubbishMantra · 25/06/2017 18:08

I hope your missing cats come home soon. Have you tried leaving some used litter and vacuum contents around the garden, so they recognise the smell?
