First night with kitten and I feel like she hates it here :(

Her sister is jumping round and playing like a lunatic, though is not that interested in me.

But she's been under the sofa pretty much the whole evening. Not eaten or used the litter tray. Not sure if she's weed/ pood, but can't smell anything.

What can I do? I feel so sad that she's missing her mum and she's maybe hungry and scared Sad

Leave her too it. She'll probably come out after dark when it's quiet. One of mine hid for a week and I never saw her but she was eating and using the litter tray at night.

robinia · 15/06/2017 01:24

Fantastic. And very brave really. Well done kitty.

avamiah · 15/06/2017 01:44

Daisychaining,
Your posts brought a smile to my face.
We have 3 cats( 2 rescues and one is a naughty grumpy kitten) who thinks he rules the roost and hisses at the other 2 older boys.
Your doing a great job.
X

Want2beme · 15/06/2017 10:02

That's great news. She's starting to trust you & her sister is reassuring her.

bluetongue · 15/06/2017 13:08

Such darling kitties Smile

DaisyChaining · 15/06/2017 20:58

They haven't had any water all day. Been with them practically the whole day bar an hour. It's warm in my house today and obviously can't open any windows (I'm sweltering!). They've eaten lots of wet food, not much dry. Both pooed. Crazy has definitely weed but don't think shy has. Should I be worried? Feel like I have twin newborns with the worry 🙈

I didn't get milk today! But I will tomorrow and see if that'll help.

Omg i was freaked out by the baby on the sofa!!
But mine is hardly drinking anything even in this weather, it's normal for them to be this scared. They'll settle soon Flowers

DaisyChaining · 15/06/2017 21:22

Hahaha I'm so sorry! Looks freaky, didn't realise 😂 ok, that's good. I've never had a pet before, not even a fish. So nerve wracking!

Oh bless her! Good girl 😻
Wet food gives them a bit of fluid. They'll probably drink some water when they need it.

shouldwestayorshouldwego · 15/06/2017 23:04

I read somewhere (probably here) that they don't like their drink next to their food. They also like a broad bowl. Ours are older and we have an old washing up bowl which they seem to like. It is next to the sink so easy to remember to refresh.

NC4now · 15/06/2017 23:08

I've posted this before, but Ozzy's preferred drinking method....

Sky kitten will come resound eventually honestly. For now remember that she may be quite frightened of you and once you leave the room she may feel less scared.

I confined my kitten to a small room for a few days. I made him hiding places from boxes, but blocked up small places such as beneath the bed so that if needed to, I could check up on him without too much difficulty. He had everything he needed in the room, I added a feliway plug in and kept food, water and litter separate.

He was shy to start with, but I think that being confined helped him get his bearings and settle. I gradually let him out, but he still chooses to nap in his room and sleeps there at night.

Good luck, I promise you that it will get easier. Kittens are remarkably wise and self sufficient, and very very crazy.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 16/06/2017 00:06

Aww. Don't take it personally. Its just a part of them settling in and getting to know and trust you. Imagine how scary it must be for her leaving her mummy. She'll Soon settle in. Some just take more time.
You'll posting on here in a few days. Telling us she's came right out of her shell and is causing havoc.Grin
She's gorgeous BTW

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 16/06/2017 00:06

Oh she's out, great.

wtffgs · 16/06/2017 23:46

Any chance of an update pic Wink

DaisyChaining · 17/06/2017 09:00

They're doing really well! They went missing yesterday and were hiding in a gap in the kickboard in the kitchen Blush god I was so scared all day. Made me realise how much I really did love them.

They're called Pixie and Flossie. Smile

They are gorgeous!

LanaKanesLeftNippleTassle · 17/06/2017 11:58

I'm sorry but it should be illegal to have such gloriously cute kittens.

I am now in the grip of kitten envy!

bluetongue · 17/06/2017 13:14

Awww, they luffs each other Smile

This thread should come with a cuteness warning Grin

Want2beme · 17/06/2017 16:35

They'd break your heart!

I had a cat called Flossie. A lovely black & white girl.

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 17/06/2017 17:29

You win. Those are seriously cute Grin.

DaisyChaining · 17/06/2017 20:36

Eek! I know, they're so unbelievably cute. They hide a lot through the day which terrifies me (just found them under DD's cot), but always come out about this time to mess about and play fight and then they snuggle up on my lap Smile

Love them!
