Why do you love cats?

I love that they aren't needy but still need you. I love the slow blink 'kisses' they give you. The way they just come and sit with you in the garden. Their beautiful eyes. The range of chirrups and strange noises they make. They make me feel calm and when I play with them I really enjoy it (more than I enjoyed playing with dc when they were younger Blush) the way they roll around in front of the fire, exposing their furry 'trousers'. That's my ode to cats. What's yours?

Hiding One of my cats looks just like yours! Such gorgeous markings. I have 2 tabbies, love their stripes!

Hidingtonothing · 03/04/2017 19:36

You find bits of pattern you hadn't noticed all the time with tabbies I think, they're gorgeous.

I'm not loving naughty cat today, the neighbour has just dug up their front lawn to create extra hardstanding and covered it with sandstone chipping.

It looks lovely, except to the cat, it looks like a massive cat litter bed and the bugger keeps publicly crapping in it Blush

Naughty cat is a member of the Greens and is exercising their right of protest at local environmental desecration.

Because they choose to come home to me at night. They could vote with their paws and go elsewhere if they wanted. Yeah, it's their actual choice that they live with me, that makes me happy. Amongst many other things of course.

And Little M looks like a cauliflower when asleep. MCat looks like a Panda, but scares the crap out me, because he can strike like a Cobra. But he follows me about the house, and purrs like a maniac.

Toddler posted about her 2 beautiful rescue Persians rescuing her, upthread. I went through a horrible time, and if it hadn't been for my 2 lads...They were certainly my safety net.

This is a really nice poem.

But slightly psychotic, with it's religious fervor. I'm actually wondering if old Chris loved cats a bit too much, after re-reading it. Confused

JamesDelaneysHat · 04/04/2017 16:30

I like how he interprets the cat letting every 7th mice go as giving it a chance! GrinShock When we all know they just get bored sometimes and the horribly maimed and unfortunately rodent limps off to die under your wardrobe and fill the room with flies in 2 weeks!! Shock

And did he actually watch his cat mauling 7 mice to come to that conclusion?!

"For he is a mixture of gravity and waggery" Is this their term for 'swagger' in the 1700s? Grin

Because without our two rescues, I'm not sure my ds would have got through his dad and me splitting up. 12 years on, they have been a comfort to both of us during life's traumas. Because they talk to me and are my companions.

I love my cats for many reasons but the main one is that Big Girl came into my life when it was very dark and she gave me something to love, to talk to when I came home and a reasob for doing things. Similarly my boy cat came into my life when I was desperately unhapppy at work and his utter devotion to me gave me a bit more strength to change my job and get my happiness back.

definitely Odd did you choose those photos with the slightly slit eyes deliberately? Those kitties look absoltely gorgeous, of course, but also just a bit scary!

Booboo27 · 06/04/2017 12:52

My cat is so affectionate with me. He will snuggle into the crook of my arm and purr like an engine. Love what a great companion he is when I'm feeling low too. Never fails to cheer me up with his hilarious character and lovely snuggles

DefinitelyOdd · 06/04/2017 13:03

No but to be fair that is always how they watch me......the tabby is ok as he was handreared by me so loves me to pieces. The tortie and white is a bloody nutjob. But they are my little angels. They just hate everyone else.

ZilphasHatpin · 06/04/2017 13:06

I love them because before they are cats they are kittens and kittens are without a doubt the best therapy for any problem you could ever have. You cannot be in the presence of a kitten and be miserable. They don't allow it. And by the time they are cats it's too late, you already love them and have to tolerate their total manipulation of your life.

Gaaaah · 06/04/2017 13:11

Because they love you even when you swear at them.

YetAnotherSpartacus · 06/04/2017 13:12

I love that sense of security!

Beautiful thread.

I don't have a cat but would like one.

I love how honest they are, as others have said. Not craven like dogs and will let you know if you've behaved badly.

They take such voluptuous pleasure in lying down/sleeping/dozing/rolling around. They are totally unapologetic about getting their rest and loving it. I love how hard they lie down.

They are very beautiful.

They smell gorgeous.

The sound of a cat purring is a guaranteed pick-me-up/soother/all's-right-with-the-world.

They catch mice.

They don't need to be walked and trained and given a ton of attention.

MycatsaPirate · 06/04/2017 16:25

We I have four cats. They are all so different in personality and have their own quirks. I love that boy cat thinks he's God in this house and strolls around like a panther. He's 13 but still plays like a kitten.

Girl cat 1 has a grumpy face but is so pretty. She's generally sweet natured and gentle and asks for a cuddle by tapping me on the arm and looking at me intently.

Girl cat 2 is a dope. She is 'startled cat'. It's her default expression. We suspect there is not much going on between the ears but we adore her.

Girl cat 3 is a our newest rescue. She is incredibly timid but at bedtime she follows me up the stairs and then shouts at me until I get into bed where she pounces on my chest and proceeds to give me a thorough face wash. As soon as my alarm goes off she does the same.

I love the noises they make and how soft their fur is. I love that they all learn stuff so quickly and as soon as I get the food pouches out they all go and sit in their own feeding spots.

Cats are ace.
