Think I'm about to lose my old girl

My old girl (nearly 18) has been wobbly for a while and went from being an outdoor totally indoor cat about 6 months ago. She has not eaten nor drank anything since last night and she was vomiting this morning. Our vet saw her and gave her an anti nausea jab and advised I brink her home and make sure she's comfortable for when the inevitable happens. Feeling very sad and kids are devastated.

I'm so sorry.

I'm so sorry, this is the horrible bit we all try to pretend won't happen.

Can you stay home with her?

Vinorosso74 · 28/02/2017 21:19

Poor girl and all of you she's clearly well loved by you all. It's hardest thing about having animals.

PosiePootlePerkins · 28/02/2017 21:24

So sorry to hear your sad newsFlowers I lost my old girl, also aged 18, last Summer. It is so difficult but ultimately its the final act of kindness. Do you have any photos or stories you would like to share, if you think it would help?

hapagirl · 28/02/2017 22:30

I'm so sorry. The worst part about having a pet is that they don't live as long as us and it's heart breaking. I hope it is peaceful for her Flowers

Thanks for your kind words. She died at around 10.20pm tonight. I do did not want to disturb her last moments that I just sat stroking her gently. Afterwards I picked her up and held her one last time. I'm dreading the morning when I have to tell the children.

So sorry for you loss. What a beautiful girl she was. But what a lovely way to go for her. At home with you stroking her.

hillbilly · 01/03/2017 12:06

Thanks everyone. The kids were very upset but I think they knew it was time for her to go. The house seems very quiet today.

hillbilly so sorry [hugs]

PosiePootlePerkins · 01/03/2017 16:59

Oh the house is just awful when they've gone. I hated it so much. Are you getting her cremated? We buried our girl's ashes in the front garden where she loved to sit in the sunshine. I think it helped the DSs a bit.

ifcatscouldtalk · 01/03/2017 17:28

hill I know exactly what you mean about the house being too quiet, seeming all wrong without them. I didn't survive long before I was down the cat rescue! I hope your kids are ok. My daughter was devastated when our old boy Wilf was pts but she talks very fondly of him now. Your cat looked like the queen of all cats in that photo. V beautiful.

timtam23 · 01/03/2017 21:31

She's lovely. RIP pusscat Flowers
