Cat missing since Tuesday

We went to work on Tuesday, came home and she's vanished. We've had her almost a year and she usually stays very close to home, just on the next door neighbour's fence or garden or onto the very next street, so always comes running straight back when she's whistled for.

We often have other cats in our garden but she is usually good at staring them off her territory.

We've done everything recommended, flyers, posters, FB, vets and microchip firm. Hoover contents and litter in garden. We've been out walking every few hours to whistle and call, day and night but there is no sign. We've got a good view of our neighbours gardens and no movement. I've also been round to look into some of the gardens. We've knocked on a few doors and have several neighbours keeping an eye out.

One neighbour is convinced she saw her yesterday at midday just on the next street - she should have known her way home from there so I'm so confused as to why she just won't come back to us. We went out straight away after this sighting but no sign, yet again.

It's awful, can't concentrate on anything, just feels like a black cloud of dread hanging over us.

Thank you so much, it's been an emotional morning, we are baffled, can't quite believe she's made her way back by herself, so glad to see her, after eating she's been curled up on her favourite spot on my son's bed, she is crying big miaows, every so often, not in pain, but just to check we are still there, so that makes me think she's been crying out for us for a long time, bless her. She smells sort of woody/musty but isn't dirty or cobwebby - it's two weeks and a day since she disappeared so its possible that she's been in someone's house whilst they were away for a fortnight - my only guess.

We are so so glad she is home safe and sound and curled up where she should be, she's thinner but not harmed, and not injured so the relief is immense.

Thank you to all, your notes of hope kept me going. I was hoping that the day would come when I could post this, there were times I didn't think the day would come, please don't give up hope of yours is still missing xxxx

Reow, we looked up about foxes and apparently they keep out of the way of cats? I hope he comes home soon.

And yes, she's grounded indefinitely! Bless her

She must of definitely been trapped somewhere. Glad she is home. We lost ours but he came back next morning, all my cats are indoor cats now with a cat proof garden, I just couldn't go through that again.

YAY !🙋🏼🍾⭐️🌹❤️😽😽😽🐈

thecatneuterer · 02/02/2017 11:31

I'm so pleased for you and for her!

thecatneuterer · 02/02/2017 11:32

Reow it is vanishingly rare for a fox to attack a fully grown cat. They eat kittens certainly but are generally very wary of adult cats.

Toddlerteaplease · 02/02/2017 12:48

So glad she's back!

Botanicbaby · 02/02/2017 12:53

Brilliant news OP! So happy to hear. Mine kept miaowing a lot when she returned too, she slept for 2 weeks solid as was exhausted.

To all those whose cats are still MIA please don't give up hope. It's agonising I know.

Gatekeeper · 02/02/2017 13:02

I've filled up reading that, I'm so glad she's home

francis223 · 02/02/2017 13:27

We've just noticed this very curious cut in her fur, very close to her eye bless her. Am very glad, it looks like it could have been much worse. No idea what's caused that...

Woo hoo. What great news. Such a worrying time. She's a beautiful Tortie. Tell her she's grounded for the rest of her life!!

TrustySnail · 02/02/2017 15:02

Yay! So pleased for you!

MsMims · 02/02/2017 15:05

Brilliant news! So relieved for you! The missing fur looks a bit like she's got herself caught on something, wonder where she's been all this time.

Reow · 02/02/2017 16:00

Hey eyes are lovely

Botanicbaby · 02/02/2017 16:02

She's beautiful. Mine was missing for longer without a scratch on her I took her to vet for check up just to be sure. She was too exhausted to protest Grin

Maybe take her in to get it looked at? It doesn't look like a bite mark...

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 02/02/2017 16:06

Pop her in to see the vet Fran, just to make sure all's well.

francis223 · 02/02/2017 16:15

Beautiful cat, I'm glad she's back with you

ClaudiaNaughton · 02/02/2017 16:25

I've seen my cat chase a fox out the garden twice. Couldn't believe my eyes.Shock

francis223 · 02/02/2017 17:11

Just back from the vets, she's lost a lot of weight but he says she must have had access to a water source- she's not dehydrated just needs building up and lots of rest and time to recover from the trauma of not being able to get home. She has damaged claws from scratching to get out of wherever she was - we've got to keep an eye on her but most importantly she's doing great considering she's been away for over two weeks.

So pleased your lovely, lovely girl is back. Hope all goes well at the vet's.

Threetoedsloth · 02/02/2017 17:13

Cross posted, good news that she's OK and just needs TLC, which she's bound to get in abundance, bless her.

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 02/02/2017 17:28

That's good Fran, the only way is up now.
She's a real cutie pie !

Janey50 · 02/02/2017 17:35

I am so pleased your girl is back. I've been through this a few times. The last time it happened we didn't have a happy ending unfortunately. That was 4 years ago and I still wonder what happened to her. But we have a new little girl now who is a house cat,so little chance of her disappearing. But I'm delighted that you have been reunited with your precious girl.

OliviaStabler · 02/02/2017 18:23

So pleased for you Flowers
