Cat has been missing since yesterday morning

I'm really worried about her. She was last seen by my DH very early yesterday morning around 5.30am. We have knocked on all the neighbours doors and handed out flyers. Rung the vets who have made a note and said I can drop a poster in tomorrow. I'm not on Facebook but a local colleague has posted it on there for me. Put it on Animal Search UK - no idea if this is any good it just came up in a google search. Any other ideas? She must be really hungry and scaredSad

Hold hope. When my cat was young he used to go missing for days sometimes and come back like nothing happened.

Our neighbours cat went missing for nearly a month. After weeks of waiting for him to come home my neighbour and her girlfriend gave up and decided to travel to see family for the weekend. Anyway the next day after they left the cat turned up outside our front door. So we brought the cat in and kept it safe till they came back home. They came back streight away and were so happy. After that length of time I think everyone had given up.

Hope your cat homes home to you safe. Remember it's fairly normal for cats to go walkies for a few days.

Hang in there posie! I have two and one in particular has gone missing a few times, longest for three weeks. He turned out to be just slightly beyond where I was looking, pretty much just hanging out in the same garden feeling sorry for himself.

Your cat might well just reappear, in the mean time I'd walk the neighbourhood (or bike it if you can) keeping an eye out. Facebook is useful if will alert people near you - when I posted on a missing cat group I got lots of people on the other side of the city promising to keep an eye out which was nice but pointless. I finally found him when my primary school teacher friend posted because she knows everyone around here - a friend of a friend recognised him.

I know it's miserable but do keep hope. I try to remind myself that they do have a big fur coat on and are very resourceful. I've despaired about my runaway lad a few times and he is currently on my bed dry humping the blankets as I write this Hmm

adlertippa you have managed to bring a smile to my face! These naughty cats, they certainly put us through it. You are right she does have a big fluffy coat and it has been very mild lately, also she is very good at catching worms! My biggest fear is that someone has stolen her, then I have no hope of getting her back. She's a very pretty cat, not pedigree but a pretty moggy. A bit bitey though!
Thanks for all the support everyone i will keep you posted.

Thinking of you OP! Fingers crossed she comes home soon Flowers

Still thinking of you too OP - I know how you feel, my little bugger was gone so long and, as a PP put it, it felt like "everything just went flat". It's so horrible.

Mine are Bengal crosses - the one who went missing looks very Bengal, so I had the same worry about theft, especially so close to Christmas. But as others have said, they sometimes just get themselves lost (mine was only a ten minute walk from my house but clearly totally lost), so don't think the worst. As others have said, do lots of walking, calling, putting the word out - there are a lot of cat lovers who will want to help you.

I hope your lovely girl comes home soon xx

Ours went missing for 5 days once and then came back hungry and tired. We tried the contents of the hoover trick - you tip the dirty hoover bag/container stuff outside and the scent of home helps them. Similar to cat litter/bedding.

We printed posters and put them through all our road doors. Also went out at different times calling her name all over.

Hope you find her soon xx

Could she have been spooked by another animal? I have had two cats go missing. They were rescues. One turned up after four months and the other after six months. Neither went further than a mile. One went missing after encountering another cat in a fight and running off. I know this all isn't much help but the best advice I read was to not lose hope. Google 'missing cat behaviour', there is a really useful article. It does underline to just keep on looking. Knock on doors and ask neighbours to check sheds etc.

Hope you find her.

Thanks so much for the positive messages I do appreciate it. Yes it does feel like its gone flat, that's a good way to describe it. Its as if she has just vanished. Posters are now up in our local area and will do another leaflet drop, covering more houses in our street. I'm pleased to hear all the stories of cats returning after some length of time, must be such a relief when they come home.

Any sign op?

PosiePootlePerkins · 01/01/2017 12:15

Hi, thanks for asking. No, sadly we have had to accept she may not be coming home. We feel we have exhausted every avenue and can do no more. If she comes home now it will be one of those amazing stories of cats coming home after weeks away. I have written on another thread about our difficult decision to rehome a cat or hopefully pair of cats, difficult in the sense of accepting Lottie has gone.

Oh op I'm sorry...fingers crossed for an amazing coming home story...a friends cat went missing and after 9 weeks they adopted a new one as the first was surely gone forever...nope he turned up 3 weeks later very pissed if that he's been replaced!
