Cat constantly miaowing in evening

I have a 2 and a half year old half Siamese boy cat.

He is locked in every night when I get home or my lodger does, she's home at 6.30 generally and I'm home same time or 7pm. Either of us feeds him then locks him in. He goes upstairs (split level maisonette) to my bedroom or the box room and sleeps. However usually at 9pm he comes downstairs and miaows really loudly to go out. He won't be quiet even if you tell him to be and often he wants 'playtime' with a laser pointer (usually 5-10 minutes). Anyway this is getting really wearing esp as its eg I the middle of Poldark!

He will go away for say 2 minutes then come back again for another enslaught!

He used to sleep in his cat bed in the evenings in the lounge (behind the sofa in the gap between it and radiator!) but not now (or not yet) doing that. He prefers to be upstairs.

Ignoring probably the only way to deal with this but does anyone have any other ideas? He is driving us mad! [grin

He is fed etc so it's not that, he's not a cuddly cat so that isn't it either!

he did wake me up at 6.50am though cozie when I sort of snapped at him "shut up".

I don't wake up until 7.10/15am!

Oh my! I remember the days when my Siamese was still around. She always had to have the last word.

fudgefeet he is only half Siamese but I was told by the 'breeder' that he was very Siamese like in his ways compared to his 2 siblings...

He had been promised to another family who then changed their mind so his siblings went to new homes and he was with his mum for about 4.5/5 months.

In a house with lots of grandchildren, dramas (breeder told me her life story!), his mum, another cat and a Rottweiler. The breeder's boyfriend/partner didn't live with her but it was his moggy cat that got the Siamese she had (chocolate and Snowshoe) pregnant - it was a mistake. I was told he shouted a lot... (TMI really but hey!).

Felix (my cat) is now or was scared of men... he hides when the doorbell is rung... and when he eats he sometimes looks behind him really nervously (presumably because he thinks others will steal his food).

He's also not very sociable - don't think he was handled much or by kids. He doesn't like kids much now!

But he is a sweetie. Smile

She wouldn't have fitted in at cozietowers, fudge.

Allowing Siamese to have the last (meaningful) word is fatal! Grin
