He managed to get behind the fire guard, I've given him a bath but don't have anything pet safe to use so just tried water, it hasn't come off!

Any tips? Hmm

Aww poor kitty!!

CosmicOwl · 17/10/2016 22:02

I know, he's now desperately trying to clean himself. Worried it's going to make him sick.

That photo Grin

I've been here before. Do NOT bathe them, water makes the soot oily and it is even harder to get out. Brush it out with a cat brush

Fruitcocktail6 · 17/10/2016 22:06

I realise you've already bathed him, let it dry then brush

123bananas · 17/10/2016 22:07

Blowdry then vacuum?

Puffinity · 17/10/2016 22:15
Grin

Can we have a proper before pic?

Leans back looking at bricked up fireplace and feeling smug

CosmicOwl · 17/10/2016 22:18

Just realised before pic didn't load. He's looking very sorry for himself. Have given him some special food to cheer him up a bit.

I'd ring the vets for advice to be honest, just in case ingesting the soot by licking makes him poorly. If nothing else, it might give you peace of mind.

Naughty lad! I take it he's meant to be a white kitty?

Fluffycloudland77 · 17/10/2016 22:20

I've used Vidal Sassoon wash and go on cats.

Poor little thing, he was properly covered wasn't he?

SealSong · 17/10/2016 22:21

X post...aww he's very cute

Puffinity · 17/10/2016 22:22

Oh dear... Grin

I hope he's ok though! Let's hope he's learned his lesson probably not

CosmicOwl · 17/10/2016 22:25

I washed him again with baby shampoo, looks a bit better. Looking at me like he wants to kill me now though. He still likes DH though who did nothing to help!

FoxesOnSocks · 17/10/2016 22:29

Oh dear.

No advice. Sorry.

If I tried to wash my cat he'd plot to kill me.

WristBoundLatexBitch · 17/10/2016 22:32

This is why I have a black cat

CosmicOwl · 17/10/2016 22:40

I think I now have a black cat too WristBoundLatexBitch!

OP posts:
WristBoundLatexBitch · 17/10/2016 22:45

Grin you know there's a shortage in people taking in black cats because they don't do selfies well!!

Anyway bathing a cat, my sister used to do that crazy cat lady she is it never ends well.

Longdistance · 17/10/2016 22:45

Loving your cats floof in his paws.

My cat once decided to walk through some black paint, and then walk on my cream carpets and sofa 🙄 He got washed well too, in the bath with iirc Simple shampoo.

CosmicOwl · 17/10/2016 22:50

That sounds way worse Longdistance, guess I should be thankful the only thing he got covered was himself. He was still stuck behind the fireguard when we found him. He's cute but not the cleverest of cats.

CosmicOwl · 17/10/2016 22:52

I want to go to bed but feel the need to stay up until he's dry now.

OP posts:
WristBoundLatexBitch · 17/10/2016 22:56

I would leave him but maybe put his bed or where he sleeps in your room, only saying this as if your worried you won't sleep. You know he will be fine Smile

CosmicOwl · 17/10/2016 23:00

Yes, think I'll give it another half an hour then head to bed.

cozietoesie · 17/10/2016 23:00

The only time I've ever had to bathe a cat was when Firstcat managed to get up the chimney and went to sleep on the inner ledge. He was a pale little Siamese when he went up - he wasn't when he was pulled down. Grin
