Help me please with food for my fussy cat

He's almost a year old and came from CPL. He always refused wet food but was quite happy with dry so has been on Applaws dry kitten food. But I wanted him to have some wet food so gave him a few pouches of Encore. He absolutely loves this but it's complementary and now he won't touch anything else.

So I need a plan for feeding in the future. I know I have to be firm and ideally I want him to have a wet food twice a day with dry in between. Ideally I want it to be delivered by Tesco with our food shopping, but I want a good quality food. Any ideas on a good wet and dry food combo?

He wouldn't eat Lily's kitchen complete or butchers classic.

Hi Life is complete and it's gone down well with my cat this week. (I'm currently testing out new brands). She also liked the wellness morsels but I was put off by the fact it had veg chunks in it which seems odd and unnecessary in cat food.

Tonight I tried mine with a Wainwrights pate type tray. It was oddly sterile looking and smelling (really didn't smell of much at all) and my decidedly unfussy dustbin cat has walked away having only eaten half of it (never happens). Won't be wasting any more money on those.

Is he still eating his dry Applaws? If not, try him on Orijen Dry, you can buy it online. At the moment Zooplus are only doing mahoosive bags of it, but you can get a smaller bag from Amazon, to see if he likes it. Mine like the cat/kitten one.

One of mine began to refuse wet food, but like you, I want to get some wet food into him to avoid UTIs. I give him Gourmet Cat Soup, (complementary) ridiculously expensive, but it's much cheaper to buy in packs of 4 from Tesco. I add water to the empty pouch, give it a swish and add that to his bowl. It dislodges any prawns or chicken bits, hiding in the folds, and gets more water into him.

But all my cats have been fussy buggers when they got to about a year. As kittens, they'd gobble anything. They must realise we're a soft touch.

Fuzzy, cats in the wild do eat vegetation - via their prey's stomach, which will contain undigested grass and leaves etc. So if your cat likes the vegetable-ey one, why not? until you bulk buy and cat decides they hate it.

That is a good point. I might buy some hi life and some wellness ones and then rotate them.

Thank you! Ill add hi life to the weekly shop and try some other dry ones. It's costing me a fortune!
