Ye gods, my cats gone and got herself knocked up

Confused

She's a beautiful pure breed birman. We've had her just over a year. We bought her off a family member who has bred birmans for years and she was from the last litter ever. She was the only girl and we had decided with them that we would keep her for breeding possibly one litter (family member shows cats all over the country). Hence why she hasn't been spayed.

She started calling in June and we kept her in for a week. She stopped calling and everything seemed fine, we let her back out again. Around this time I took her to the vet as she seemed off her food, vet gave me some overrid? to stop her ovulating as ideally we didn't want her having a littler until she was older.

Last week she seemed to suddenly explode, checked her nipples and yep pink and huge. She's bloody pregnant! I don't think she got pregnant in June as she would have had them by now. So no signs of calling and the overrid doesn't seem to have worked.

Except now I have no idea how far along she is! She's pretty big, very big pink nipples and I can feel the kittens moving around inside her so I don't think she's got very long to go.

Family friend is away for a month so is no help. What do I do?! Does she need to go to the vet? I've been reading up and it all seems straightforward but it's a pain not knowing when exactly she's due.

I've got her a nice box and old blankets for the birth, is there anything else I need to do?

Fluffycloudland77 · 19/09/2016 19:25

Oh my lord those kittens are fucking massive. How on earth will she feed all of them? They'll eat her alive.

DartmoorDoughnut · 19/09/2016 19:44

DartmoorDoughnut · 19/09/2016 20:29

Oh they're gorgeous! And bloody huge!! I'm voting Maine Coon Grin

Poor lass, I bet she is.

Food and liquid within real easy reach from now on, I reckon. That 4 will be taking a lot of liquid nourishment out of her system.

RustyPaperclip · 19/09/2016 20:59

Just catching up and I have seen the photo of her in the drawer. Bless her!

RustyPaperclip · 19/09/2016 21:20

Oh my goodness, they are beautiful little bundles of fur. Congratulations to you and your lovely girl. I'm getting kitten broody Grin

Cliffdiver · 19/09/2016 21:25

Congrats on beautiful kitties Smile
Hope mum is doing ok.

MalodyandJim · 19/09/2016 22:00

Slightly wishing she hadn't given birth in my bedroom. The noise! Any idea how long until I could move her and kittens? Boot room is lovely and warm, could set her box and food/water up in there later this week maybe?

OP posts:
Fluffycloudland77 · 19/09/2016 22:17

Well she might move them herself out of instinct soon enough.

If you move them she might decide to move them all back. Poor girl needs a trolley to put them all in though, she'll put her neck out carrying those butterballs.

Iliveinalighthousewiththeghost · 19/09/2016 22:19

Oh I'm just imagining all their little tiny meows.

Northernlurker · 19/09/2016 22:38

Oh they are sweet. Will she manage to feed them all ok?

LyndaNotLinda · 19/09/2016 23:26

OMG - you have a bedroom full of newborn kittens!!!

Congratulations - they are beautiful. I bet you're going to want to keep one Grin

BrianCoxWithBellsOn · 19/09/2016 23:36

Oh all the feels right here!!

I know the animal rescue I used to volunteer for would trap, neuter and release feral cats - May be worth seeing what's what in your area, once you've caught your breath.

Definitely do not let her out until she's been spayed, she could fall again immediately

Nawww. Clever kitty!

JinkxMonsoon · 19/09/2016 23:43

I hope you're going to keep updating with pics, because I want to see how massive these babies get!

torthecatlady · 20/09/2016 00:02

Adorable! I wouldn't move them, she will probably move them herself.
