Tales of destruction welcome. No judging if your cat understands the phrase "Shut the fuck up, Please just be quiet!"

I've known people have them as indoor cats, as long as the cat is happy it's ok.

I met a chap at a breed show who had 9 bengals, he said they worked in teams.

SmokingCat goes out into the garden on a leash and harness. He gets to run around and go mental but without me worrying he will get stolen or hurt!

Iamdobby63 · 13/09/2016 17:18

Does anybody else's Bengal get attention by biting their humans calves or making a grab for them if they are up higher. In my house it's like 'don't ignore me or I kill you'

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 13/09/2016 17:33

I would imagine lots of chatting and play might sort that out ( I've watched Jackson Galaxy so am clearly an expertWink)

Iamdobby63 · 13/09/2016 18:12

I believe it's a demand for food, coupled with lots of 'shouting' until he gets what he wants! I should really just drop everything and jump to it.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 13/09/2016 18:15

Don't you already?ShockGrin

Iamdobby63 · 13/09/2016 18:17

Well sometimes I'm getting human food out the oven before it burns or dealing with an injured child but yeah, really should address my priorities. Loool

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 13/09/2016 18:20

Well clearly it's because you haven't offered him the human food first! Tut tut, priorities!

Iamdobby63 · 13/09/2016 18:26

Must. Try. Harder. Clearly he is not very good at training me.

allthecarbs · 13/09/2016 18:32

I've always loved the look of bengals but I had no idea they were so naughty! I've loved reading all your stories of your cats but this has made me realise I'm not quite ready for a bengal.
Definitely want one when the kids have grown up, they sound hilarious!

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 13/09/2016 18:35

We has to get a plastic container with a lid as he kept helping himself to food! He is capable of opening a box and wiping open a pouch of cat food! He was MOST pissed off when we put a stop to that carry on!

Iamdobby63 · 13/09/2016 18:38

My vet once told me my Bengal cat was bipolar.

VikingMama · 13/09/2016 21:17

Our Bengal has been the most expensive cat ever, mainly due to his intolerance of other cats visiting our garden. I think he's also lacking brain cells.
Five years ago, he got run over and limped home with his guts hanging out. He got stitched up, which he then promptly ripped open trying to jump in the fridge. He was stitched again and kept in one room, so he tried to escape out the closed window and ripped his stitches again...he was then on cage rest.
He has been stitched up once every three months for the last few years due to fighting...head wounds, bitten on the tail, bitten on the bum, bitten on the cheek. I just phone the vets and say, "it's the Bengal's mum, can I bring him in".

He is though the biggest softy ever, loves to sleep on my shoulder in bed, loves a belly rub, gives great head buts, is exceptionally vocal...

Would we get another...no, too much stress and worry about operations, wound cleaning, I'm constantly checking him for bites..

Fluffy where is the photo of your spirited little lad? No thread complete etc.

All the kitties on here are heartbreakers.

Fluffycloudland77 · 13/09/2016 21:30

I was wondering where you were Lana. How is your big boy?.

Viking He sounds like ours. He's a bit territorial too.

I considered a Bengal. Then I changed my mind... (wuss)

They're all bloody gorgeous though. Before we moved, MCat had a Bengal that he would hang out with. Said Bengal would stick his head through an open window, and announce his presence. He'd come in for a fuss, then he and MCat would go off to do Important Cat Stuff.

GherkinsOnToast · 13/09/2016 22:13

We had 2 now only 1. :( We had a brother/sister pair who were 2 years apart. We went for a second bengal because our boy was so quiet and friendly. The Flo came home.....

I have never heard anything talk, yowl, whine and caterwaul quite like she does. She went a bit nuts when the boy died 4 years ago age 10 so we bought her a kitten. She loves him to bits but yowls any time she is in the house and can't see him. She refuses to use the cat flap so will yowl for hours until someone opens the door to let her in or out! Occasionally she will pee right at the door of the litter tray just to show us she doe not approve of our cleaning routine! She also HATES people, we provide food, open doors and occasionally she will sit on us and allow us to stroke her.

She is now 14 and getting old and I although I often think I can't wait for a non yowling day, we will be devastated when she finally pop her clogs. She went awol for a couple of days last week and we were all like a wet weekend waiting to see if she came home.

RustyPaperclip · 13/09/2016 22:44

Haha Blossom I think we own the same cat as you have summed up my Bengal pretty perfectly Grin I adore our Bengal but I think I am truly a Siamese owner at heart.

LanaorAna1 · 14/09/2016 16:11

Fluffy and Mantra I am falling back into the Litter Tray with raw gratitude after a hell of a few months. Work done, phew. 3rd degree burns & almost-sepsis dealt with, double phew.

Mr C is pretty grateful normal service has resumed. He learnt to turn the wifi off out of rage, normally he just sits on it and crushes the signal. He is remarkably well and 'at risk of further weight gain'.

How is the little Bengal Beauty? Hope DH has not seen further injury recently.

Fluffycloudland77 · 14/09/2016 16:18

Ouch, 3rd degree burns and sepsis sounds awful for you.

Turning off the wifi is impressive. I hope this isn't the start of a new trend because they could hold us to ransom with that one.

The Bengal is still a Bengal. Injuries are sustained frequently Grin

The sepsis thing (it was only borderline sepsis) was DISGUSTING - the medic screamed. :) They got 6oz of pus out of my leg, then it infected again. And again. I did not know bodily fluids could be so exhaustingly dull.

I daren't tell you the rest in case DH starts saying the Bengal has given him sepsis. My Surgeon thought it might be Mr C clawing me. Little tinker is washing his little paws now, the picture of kitten-in-a-teacup innocence.

LanaorAna1 · 14/09/2016 20:54

PS I really, really want a pic of Mr C in a teacup. But at 7kg I don't think he'd make it into a cement bucket.

sashh · 15/09/2016 09:08

I suspect my stray moggy is part Bengal.

I have had cats most of my life and fostered for 10 years, she is the only cat I have not managed to train not to go on the kitchen worktops.

She is so stubborn, she decides she wants to sleep somewhere and yuo cannot stop her, this has included book shelves, the radiator and me.

Also the only cat who ever curled up on the side of the bath when I was in it and will jump from the floor to your chest if she isn't getting enough attention.

Fluffycloudland77 · 16/09/2016 21:18

He's sprayed on the lounge door Hmm

OP posts:
ClarkL · 16/09/2016 22:09

Whoops! We've had a bit of spraying, usually if the eldest is in a bad mood. Things that trigger him include the wind, Rain, sun...all things in our control!!!! 😂 I have a spray bottle with equal parts water and white vinegar for spraying on any hard surface once cleaned to get rid of the smell and stop them all going in the same place
